Re: Fedcup WG R1 R Hogenkamp saved 1 MP def S Kuznetsova 7-6(4) 5-7 10-8 (NED 2-0 RUS

Wow. if the Netherlands wins this tie it is a huge upset. Russia, on paper, should win even without Sharapova. Hogenkamp really stepped up. Just like Rus stepped up last yr to get them here.

The attendance at Midland looks weak this year. The stands are virtually empy

Re: Launceston 75K R2 Nadiya Kichenok d. Vekic 7-6(6) 7-5

Why is Vekic not playing Fed Cup?

The girl who took her place is actually carrying Croatia.

Re: Can Kerber's success save Petkovic's career?

They are two different players with varied strengths and weaknesses

It's funny how you describe what is inside her head as if you're her personal therapist divulging confidential information. LOL...

Re: Midland R1 King Raveena def. Anna Tatishivili 7-5 1-6 7-6(4)

Kingsley has had some nice results the last couple of weeks. Looks to be a promising player.

I saw her play at US Open Qualifying. She has obviously improved quite a bit since then.

Re: Midland 100K 1R: Veronica Cepede Royg def Taylor Townsend 7-6 1-6 6-3

Royg is probably top 200 level on this surface so this result is a little worse than it looks by the close scoreline

Still, at least Taylor has bee pushing decent players the last few weeks. This...

Re: WTA Needs To Market Its New Stars WANG,KERBER,OSAKA,ZHANG,KONTA

Wang didn't really make a big impact. I agree about the others, though.

Re: 25K Bertioga F: Cirstea def. Catalina Pella 6-1,6-7(4),6-3

Nice week

If she gets injury free, she's still young enough (25) to get back to the top 100

Re: $50K Maui SF: (1/wc)Christina McHale (USA) DRAGS (3)Naomi Broady (GBR) 36 76(5) 6

Barely losing to McHale is a pretty good effort for Naomi. McHale was vulturing the tournament. Christina is perennially top 30-75.

Re: Why exactly Jennifer Capriati only won 3 slams?

Mainly because she mentally imploded around 1994 and missed many of her productive years. She got her act together and starting winning slams around 2000. Then her shoulder went out four years later.

Re: Aus Open Final: (7) Angie Kerber SHOCKS (1) Serena Williams 6-4 3-6 6-4

Kerber stayed together mentally pretty well throughout the third set except when serving for it a 5-3.

Her retrieval abilities, subsequent passing shots making Serena hit difficult volleys,...

Re: WWW AO Final: Serena Williams vs. Kerber

Kerber has been very good this week. I think she can push Serena to three sets.

I guess this is the end

She can be proud of what she achieved in her comeback. I think she did better than most would have thought possible given how long she was away and being almost 40 yrs old...

Re: Maui 50K R2 S.Crawford d. Townsend 6-3 3-6 6-1

How did Taylor's conditioning look?

It is sad how far she has fallen

Patrick McEnroe was ridiculed for being "mean", but in hindsight, I think he was right.

Edit: I watched a bit on USTA...

Re: 2016 AO SF: (1) Serena Williams polishes off (4) Radwanska 6-0 6-4

First set was just a complete beat down. Radwanska started hitting much deeper on her groundstrokes in the second set. At 4-4 40-15, the set was looking very competitive. Then Radwanska got tight and...

Re: AO '16 QF: Kerber def. Azarenka 6-3 7-5

Surprising result. Vika looked very good in the earlier rounds.

Kerber does look fitter, but I didn't think it would matter.

Re: Tarpishchev to Sugarpova: if you don't play Fed cup, don't bother going to Rio'

Other players have to play Fed Cup to qualify for the Olympics, so Sharapova should have to, as well.

That said, she played it late last season. That should fulfill the requirement for Olympic...

Vika should win this. Kerber can retrieve well but eventually should wear out from all the running. Vika should be able to dictate play
