Re: Most number of MPs saved on-route to winning a Slam?

Or because they don't visit the Blast From the Past Forum on this site-where we have the most complete slam scores on the net!

There were at least 4 match points saved (maybe 5) in the 1898 US...

Re: What if Serena doesn't get to 22 this year?

While she may not win another slam, I wouldn't bet against it!

Until age and an heiress come along she is still the person I would bet money on at Wimbledon and the US Open.

The only slam she...

Re: Serena and Graf and the GOAT Debate

LOL Bobito.

My heart agrees with you. Shakespeare's quote "A horse, a horse, a kingdom for a horse!" was never truer.

Re: Serena and Graf and the GOAT Debate

Qualities-accomplishments-I don't see the difference.

So I'll agree with you to be nice like you have been. We go by players accomplishments. Period

And again-none of them have it all when it...

Re: Serena and Graf and the GOAT Debate

You are 100% correct.

And Court has 2 more slams than Graf (and equally dominant years such as 1988). This is an undebatable fact.

And at 16 years Serena has the biggest gap between first slam...

Re: Serena and Graf and the GOAT Debate

"The GOAT debate" isn't limited to Serena or Steffi. Each has special traits and records that make a good argument, but no one holds all the cards.

There is nothing wrong with someone coming out...

Re: Pushers DO win slams

The problem I have with your analysis is in calling Kerber a "pusher".

Just because she doesn't rocket every ball a la Williams or Sharapova doesn't make her a pusher. Someone like Sara Errani...

Re: Where can Aga/Caro/Simona go from here, now that Angie is a GS winner?

Take steps to build/improve your chances-and have the guts to seize your chances when they come.

I'll always feel Wozniacki had her best shot in 2010 and 2011 when she was on the cusp. She failed...

Re: Can we talk about Serena's amazing post-match reaction?

Very classy in what was a tough defeat. It must be hard to swallow disapointment like that in front of all the world.

Re: But actually...how relevant are Court's Slams?

I don't care if Court beat a bunch of 10 year kids to win some of her majors-she has 24. Get over what your favorite doesn't have.

Besides, if was the hack some are making her out to be she...

Re: Can Venus win her 1st Australian Open Singles title

No she can't. A slam outside of Wimbledon is past her IMO.

And if she proves me wrong by winning it I will be THRILLED for her. That would be a true fairy tale come true:)

Re: Longest rally ever

Here is a thread on the match. I was wrong about it being match point. Instead it was on set point for Hepner. Had she won the rally the match would have gone into a third set!

Listen to Nelson...

Re: Bombshell: Tennis was scary before Seles

Dottie Knode also got a death threat in 1955 before her semifinal with the popular Doris Hart. She was told if she won she would be shot to death.

Hart won 6-1 6-1. The threat maker was never...

Re: Longest rally ever

Very few. In fact the rally happened at match point. Had it gone to 3 sets the umpire was prepared to get a replacement.

Both women were notorious for using "moonballs".

Re: WTA:who has done the shot between the legs? (or other genuinely spectacular shot

Rosie Casals used to do between the legs shots nearly every match. Hell, she even did between the legs volleys.

She was not ahem, ladylike at all.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks Vika is coming back to reclaim her real place in WTA

She can beat and lose to anyone-including Serena too of course.

Fitness is the key. One or two titles and/or a major and Vika Drama Queen could reign again.

Re: WTA championship 1973

Margaret Court intended to play (as she had in 1972) but withdrew at the last minute-pregnancy was the main culprit.

Billie Jean King was a no show. It's not clear why but there are two good...
