Re: Who Next To Win Their First Grand Slam

So cool that the WTA has 4 straight first-time GS singles champs. C'mon Serena, end the streak. hahaha

Re: Is Chris Evert the least informed commentator ever?

Yep, Rubin struggles with the names but she's a lot better than Adams who was just hopeless.

LMAO!

Re: Serena Williams 2012 : Motivation? (updated 1/23)

Yep, I agree. I'm hoping it's the French but Wimby and the USO will do just fine.

Re: Is Chris Evert the least informed commentator ever?

Wow, it's a good thing I replied. hahaha It was on Page (or 3) and unanswered when I replied. Nice dialogue.

Re: Is Chris Evert the least informed commentator ever?

Evert isn't the worse but she's guilty like a lot of the commentators of not keeping up with the tour and relying on notes given to her. I completely understand your exasperation.

Re: Matts Wilander, they re copying sharapova

Yep, the originator.

Don't have ES so I'm not sure exactly how Wilander meant the comment.

Re: Chris O'Neil thinks Stosur 'will definitely' win Oz

No problem with the smack talk but the woman will always be a GS champ. Ask Betsy Nagelsen.

Re: Real #1 of 1987-Navratilova or Graf?

Even I can admit this to being true and I'm a die-hard Graf fan (with old school affection for Navratilova and tons of respect for Seles).

Re: Chris O'Neil thinks Stosur 'will definitely' win Oz

Yep, that's the invisible asterisk next to O'Neil's name but like you said, she won so who cares. Sure, I'd probably think something like "not the most competitive year" but I'd never take away...

Re: Chris O'Neil thinks Stosur 'will definitely' win Oz

Could win? Yep. WILL win? Depends on her nerves.

Re: I just can't with the Stosur hype in the Australian media and among her fans.

Re: I just can't with the Stosur hype in the Australian media and among her fans.

The two Slams are equal. And I do agree that Melbourne is more difficult because in Flushing, you never have to to deal with 100 degree+ (sorry I don't know Celsius) temps. Wind and humidity? Yep but...

Re: I just can't with the Stosur hype in the Australian media and among her fans.

Yep, that's exactly how I feel about Stosur, too. Late bloomer who got her act together and went all the way. Happy for her.

Re: I just can't with the Stosur hype in the Australian media and among her fans.

I think most people get it (like Henin and Clijsters in Belgium after their first wins). I'm sure it's annoying for you guys but it's understandable that it's happening. If Hobson wins Wimbledon,...

Re: I just can't with the Stosur hype in the Australian media and among her fans.

I don't blame the Aussie media. It's been a long drought for WTA singles Slam champs. When a country known for tennis greats goes that long, you often begin to lose hope. Stosur gave 'em some solace....

Re: What do you think Wozniacki's end of year ranking will be in 2012?

#6-10 because I don't see her winning more than one Slam and she's got tons of pts to defend (I foresee some early losses). Then there's the issue of Serena's comeback. haha My bad. I'm biased.

Re: In the history of the womens game who had the best backhand overhead?

Thanks for all of these. All great examples to support your point about Sabatini. I agree.

Re: Serena Williams 2012 : Motivation?

Since Serena's still playing, I believe that she still has a stronger hunger to win Slams.

As for own personal thoughts, no clue. In my mind, money isn't a motivation at this stage in her career....

Re: Is Dominika Cibulkova the Amanda Coetzer of this generation?

I thought the comparison here was because Cibulkova is Coetzer's height.

Re: Is Dominika Cibulkova the Amanda Coetzer of this generation?

Never made the connection but it's a GOOD one. Yep, I agree. Cibulkova is Coetzer 2.0.

Re: Who Next To Win Their First Grand Slam

What's giving Azarenka the edge over Wozniacki in the poll? Just curious.
