Re: Amelie mauresmo and Andy Murray break up bad for women tennis?

I don't think that it dissolving after two very solid years is an indictment of their coaching relationship or of the idea of a female player/coach being able to work in the mens game. I don't think...

Re: Chakvetadze would be #2 right now with 2007 results

I'm nostalgic about Anna and miss 2007 because she's my all-time favourite player... and her career was cut horribly short, which makes 2007 all the more poignant. BUT... thinking historically always...

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 97

The dragging Sam Smith is giving Putintseva's forehand is making me laugh quite a bit :p

Re: WWW AO SF: Kerber or Konta?

Konta has shown she absolutely can hang with the top 10 on big courts since mentally retooling herself in the last year - she's not the most explosive player ever, but has solid weapons and can apply...

Re: Why does everyone say "into the 2nd week" when half of the 4th round is on a Sund

I think it's just a Wimbledon relic as others have stated!

Re: Who will reach the semifinal from Sharapova's quarter ?

Have had a feeling Mladenovic is going to make a serious slam run for a little while... weirder shit has happened!

Re: Congrats Venus Ebony Starr Williams, New College Graduate

Impressive from Venus, her achievements are really pretty incredible and deserve respect.

Online degrees are great for people in situations where they cannot attend, or where it is impractical,...

Re: BMS eliminates CoCo, 6-2, 6-1

Wandeweghe is very frustrating, really played a good match against Stephens... but this was dismal. Nice to see BMS back to winning ways though :)

Re: Wimbledon R2: Krunic def. (19) Errani 6-3 6-7 (2-7) 6-2

Krunic's game is so lovely to watch when she makes good choices, but she has the extreme Kuznetsova problem of just having too many options to choose from when she goes to hit a ball and often she...

Re: Wimbledon R1: JJ def Vesnina 6-4 3-6 10-8

A shame one of them had to lose - I only caught bits of this while working, but both of them seemed to be hitting well and playing some good tennis. JJ passes the deadly Wimbledon 1r!

Re: Wimbledon R1: Rodina def. Recovering Robson 6-4, 6-4

Just glad to see Robson back and well enough to play. Better than expected given the last match, hope she can make it back to decent form and full fitness.

Re: No Wimbledon on Eurosport?

The BBC coverage is great - 15 courts, commentary on 5 of them - I imagine it's location locked to only be viewable to UK residents, but you can easily bypass that with a VPN program :)

Re: Eastbourne R2: Watson d. Svitolina 3-6 7-5 6-4

Great fight from Watson (via some outrageous net cord luck in the 2nd set admittedly) - impressed by how well she fought to win this. Big hugs to Svitolina for the blisters - they looked quite sore!

Re: Eastbourne 2R: Bencic d. Mugdison Keys 6-2 6-2

Keys was pretty poor, but Bencic was awesome today and served like a demon. In the absence of good indoor hard and carpet, grass ought to be Bencic's best surface, imho.

Re: Eastbourne R2 (WC) Johanna 'Grass' Konta SHOCKs (4) Ekaterina Makarova 6-2 6-4

Konta has a big game when it's on and is very capable of dominating if she keeps the ball in the court and can dictate rather than having her poor movement exposed when she has to defend much. If...

Re: Nottingham 250K R2: Aga Radwanska def. Xtina McHale 6-3, 6-1

The stats were wrong for all the matches I think - the Konjuh match (which I only watched set 2, but there were plenty winners) had the same hugely underestimated winners thing in the stats shown...

Re: Rome R1: Azarenka HAS HER BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKED, def. [LL] Hradecka 7-5 2-6 6-1

Martina is generally cynical about everyone and always blunt. It's really a defining attribute of her personality, and one you either like for its honesty, or dislike for its bitchiness. Personally,...

Re: Why Do People "Choke"?

People make WAY too much use of the term "choking" - I see it applied on this board many times when in reality the player simply lost from a break up. In women's tennis when often half the games are...

Re: If WTA players were phones.....

In all my years of lurking on TF, I think this is the single most baffling thread I've encountered. Why would this EVER occur to anyone?

I'm slightly impressed, to be fair.

Re: Players who forgot how to play

I agree that once she lost her confidence post-robbery she was never truly the same player, notably with how nervous she became on serve - but she still had patches of good form mixed into the many...
