Re: wta announces newcomer of the year nominees

You may or may not be right about this but if you showed the statistics to a number of tennis experts who had nothing to go on besides the results in front of them (i.e. they don't know Bouchard is...

Re: RG Q2: Voskoboeva def. Konta 46 63 75

It is indeed.

I didn't even notice that she'd won it last year. I feel ashamed.

Re: 12 teens in top 100. Most since?

I'm 33 years old but I still consider myself to be in my twenties.

It's not like there's an exact definition of 'being in ones twenties' or anything, it's more a state of mind or whether it fits...

Re: Portugal 1-1 GB Michelle Larcher de Brito def. Heather Watson 6-1 6-4

So... Watson = journeywoman, Robson = local club player, Babos = ????

(Why did you take down her name in big writing from your sig?)

Re: Portugal 1-1 GB Michelle Larcher de Brito def. Heather Watson 6-1 6-4

I agree. We've had loads of WTA title winners in Britain recently. Watson simply doesn't stand out from the crowd amongst that lot.

Oh wait...what?

People should make their minds up on this...

Re: Journeywomens Days in the Sunshine

Oh come on. Terrible thread?

It's not like it's "Name your favourite player from history that died in a running with scissors incident. LOL" now is it? (other tragic instances could also be used.)...

Re: Which player's name is toughest for you to pronounce?

Heather WATSON.

No matter how many times I try, her same always comes out sounding like ROBSON.

Too confusing having so many good players in this country these days.

Re: NFL sportswriter names Williams as top sports siblings "ever"

Waugh brothers in cricket must be right up there. (If you can go as parochial as American Football, surely we can have cricket too.)

Bekele brothers and Dibaba sisters in athletics could feature...

Re: Pattaya R1: Heather Watson def. Timea Babos 6-1 3-0 RET.

Great stuff Heather!

Feel sorry for that Babos fan, I forget his name, but he seems to take most pleasure from any time a British player loses.

Re: Is It Safe To Say Serena Has The Softest Draw In A Slam Again?

Perhaps she does, but then again it's probably more to do with the fact that she's the only one who doesn't have to face Serena.

Re: AO R1: Yulia Putintseva upends Christina McHale, 61 67(0) 62

I quite liked that interview, she speaks very intelligently despite being a bit mental.

Re: Last Time The 32 SEEDS @ A Slam Were Born From 30 Mothers ?

When Laura and Heather Robson make the top 32, it could be 29.

Re: Who is better? Troll Hingis or Troll Rena?

Hingis was the ultimate troll. The fact that she said all these things with a seemingly sweet, innocent smile on her face just made it all the more funny.

Re: "Player Blood Passports" being considered by ITF

The bio-passport system is all well and good, but it's completely ineffective without regular testing.

Tennis should bring in proper regular OOC and IC testing before it can think about a...

Re: Who is the classiest player on court?

Going arrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuggggghhhhhhhh when you hit the ball doesn't give you an 'on court personality'.

But it does disqualify you from being the most classy person on court.

Re: Who is the classiest player on court?

Making ridiculous noises in order to put your opponent off is certainly not classy.

Therefore Venus, Serena, Maria, Vika at al, are not allowed to be counted as 'classiest player on court'. Notice...

Re: Who is the classiest player on court?

Surely the mega-decibel grunters should be disqualified from this thread.

They're generally doing it as gamesmanship, which is within the rules, but decidedly unclassy.

Someone like Aga maybe?

Re: Heather Watson "I can be World #1"

These threads are always amusing.

She basically replied to the question by saying she's going to try her best with her tennis career and see where it takes her. The journo writes up the article...

Re: Beijing, R2: (Q)Lourdes Dominguez Lino def. (Q)Laura Robson 7:5, 6:3

One 'Robson fan' causes a lot of fuss and makes a lot of weird posts, and then all the slightly odd 'anti-Robson' types start getting all hysterical about a 'British invasion' and 'all the deluded...

Re: China Open R1: (Q) Laura Robson def. (WC) Kimiko Date-Krumm 6-4, 6-4

Laura's mental problems tend to be less when she's leading or serving for it, but more when she's serving to stay in it.

4-5 on Laura's serve is always behind the sofa time for me.

I reckon Heather Robson would be a pretty good player.

Re: Why do girls miss so many simple balls?

It's a power thing. Less power = less margin for error = more missed balls.

Re: Guangzhou Final: Hsieh def. Robson 6-3 5-7 6-4

350k this year and she can't afford a coach.

Gimme a break.
