Re: Serena to Clijsters...

I would think that in order to win, a player would need the confidence that he/she can beat anyone. For a player to acknowledge that he/she might not win a title if a certain other player was there...

Re: Serena to Clijsters...

And Kim beat Serena in one of those majors, and Serena lost in the 4th round of the other. In other words, Kim has won majors when Serena played, so it's not out of the question to think it could...

Re: Serena to Clijsters...

Why is that so bad or unimaginable? Do you not have friends that you get back in touch with for a bit or whatever, but then lose touch again? When Justine came back on tour, of course Kim saw her...

Re: Serena's Situation - Your Take

Show us the proof it wasn't a foot fault. Where is the screen cap?

Regardless, Serena should not have reacted like that. Plus, she was 2 points from losing anyway.

Re: I know exactly what Serena said, read her lips

And then Serena said in the press conference that she didn't make a threat but also couldn't really remember what she said. Blatant lying.

I sympathized with her regarding the calls in that...

Re: Serena's Situation - Your Take

They should remove the lines people if that's the case. Does this mean you also think out balls shouldn't be called near the ends of matches? What's the difference?

Re: What happened on Court 4?

Oh, so the scoreboard is just stuck for some reason. Good to know there wasn't a big injury or something.

What happened on Court 4?

At the official site, the Vives/Vesnina match has been stuck on the same score for at least 30-45 minutes. What happened?

Re: Did Bud Collins say that he believes Sharapova is number 1 now?

True, but the flaw in that is that what a player did last March shouldn't have too much bearing on where they stand now. I am saying this irrespective of Justine as I think everyone would agree she...

Re: Did Bud Collins say that he believes Sharapova is number 1 now?

He did say that, and you all are overreacting. Maria is #1 for 2008 so far. I don't think he meant she is #1 for the past year. He is saying that the way she is playing right now, she is #1 in the...

Why does the women's tour consistently underwhlem?

This is meant to be a real question and discussion, not some "Don't be so negative" or "I'd rather see a 6-0, 6-0 women's match than a thrilling men's match" thread. I am seriously wanting feedback...

Re: Justine Henin def. Maria Sharapova 5-7; 7-5; 6-3

It's funny how Justine fans were talking about how tired she was and it's why she was losing, but then she wins the last two sets. Clearly they had an excuse ready.

Re: can we agree that Justine is the best player of the 00's

If she were to win Wimbledon and Serena not win another major, then yes. As long as Serena has more majors or the same amount, though, then no. Serena has won 3 of the majors multiple times and...

Re: Are You Going To Watch The USO Women's Final?

I don't even plan on checking the score to see who wins.

Re: Carillo! WTF!!!

Serena hasn't torn through any draw in the past 4 years except the Australian Open twice.

Venus hasn't torn through any draw in the past 4 years except Wimbledon twice and perhaps this U.S. Open....

Re: Is the women's tournament going to get good?

This first semi is starting off terribly; error after error.

Re: Is the women's tournament going to get good?

Just because a match goes 3 sets doesn't mean it's good, and that's why I put in the part about more winners than errors. Aga vs. Maria was not a good match. Both players had more winners than...

Re: Lost all respect for Serena

Not that we know for sure she said "bitch," but even if she did, where is the proof she was calling Justine that? People make up so much drama.

Re: Lost all respect for Serena

We all know Serena hasn't played her best in the last three majors. The Serena of the Australian final wouldn't lose to anyone in the game, regardless of how well they played. No player can play...

Is the women's tournament going to get good?

The men have had several classic matches already this Open (Djokovic/Stepanek, Haas/Blake, Moya/Kohlschreiber, etc.) where they went the distance and where both players hit more winners than errors....

Re: Just One Day Off For Winner Of V. Williams Vs. Jankovic. OMG.

It's just odd because they usually have potential opponents play on the same day. The Williams/Henin winner now gets an extra day of rest over her SF opponent, but I guess because Venus or Jelena...

Re: Will Serena move up in the rankings at all?

She'll pass Anna to move up to #7, though Nicole should pass Serena if she wins the tournament (and maybe if she makes the final). Hopefully Serena will be healthy for the summer season and can get...

Re: Wow! Even beating injured Serena is a great feat

It's a good win for Justine's confidence and she played well, but she started choking at the end. If Serena had full use of her two-handed backhand, Serena would have returned better, and she...
