Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 100

Serious reply to a light-hearted remark, but she could have declined the court change, I believe.

Re: The Official Schedule Discussion Thread

Play has restarted at Roehampton. Players aren't out on C12 (BBC alternative match) yet; they're just getting the court ready.

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 100

This was for UK free-to-air early evening TV, so that's the audience they should have had most in mind. Hev's match was the obvious choice. Maybe they didn't want to appear to be favouring her...

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 100

Not a good enough reason, IMHO, not by a long shot. The spectators' interest should have been given more weight. Maybe they're catering for all those American viewers:rolleyes:.

Crossing fingers that I do the attachment right...;)

This is the search I was doing. It still fails. If I do the same search checking the search in whole threads button, it's OK.

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 100

I didn't know they had the choice. Why did any of them wear it if they didn't have to?

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 100

So sorry to hear about the 3am hotel fire that left Lucie with only the clothes she was standing in, but surely someone could have lent her a dress?

Re: WTA orders Players not to speak negatively about Sharapova

Thanks for that. I saw some extraordinary comments from Sharapova fans about this on twitter, but they didn't quote the source, so I wasn't clear that it was something new.

Re: Sharapova Ban - Appeal submitted to CAS 14th June.

For no particular reason, I'd have been interested to have the count of such matches reaching 7-7 final set separated out.

I guess @StatsWTA cherry-picked the number 35 for maximum impact, but...

Re: Wimbledon Wildcards

There were well-defined criteria for British wild cards at the time, and she met them. (That's not to say she wouldn't have got a wild card this year had she the same ranking as she did then--she...

Re: Sharapova Ban - Appeal submitted to CAS 14th June.

It seems no one who responded to me, not even stromatolite, really followed me, which of course is undoubtedly my fault.

The story wasn't from my point of view, but from that of (a fictional)...

Re: Sharapova Ban - Appeal submitted to CAS 14th June.

I believe someone up-thread said that Team Sharapova had hinted that some of her rivals were taking proscribed drugs. Another post suggested that taking a non-proscribed PED (and perhaps also not...

Re: Birmingham Qualifying: Siniakova def Robson 6-1, 6-3

In singles, I think she has won two in a row once, beating Mercier and Stokke before falling to Ruse in QR3 at Sunrise 25K.

Re: Would you, as a pro player, take an unbanned PED?

That's a fair interpretation.

Caffeine's an interesting case, though. I'd assume it's currently not banned not because it's not performance-enhancing but because it's part of our (most of our)...

Re: Would you, as a pro player, take an unbanned PED?

Good question. I guess I'll have to say that you're concealing your use from the authorities as long as that is not a punishable offence in its own right.

Re: Would you, as a pro player, take an unbanned PED?

I didn't ask the question very well, did?

I've edited the first post to match the poll question. Bear that in mind when reading the replies before this one.

Soz.

Would you, as a pro player, take an unbanned PED?

I'm going to regret this thread, and especially the trollish poll I'm going to attach to it. But let's find out exactly why.

If you reply to this thread, don't name names, and above all don't get...
