Re: Notthingham QF: (1/WC) Ka.Pliskova def. (WC) Barty 7-6(2) 7-6(7)

Karolina Pliskova is a true WTA serve-botter - 20 aces in a match.

That must have made the difference today - what a weapon to have!

Re: Is Misaki Doi the unluckiest player ever with grand slam draws?

That is a terrible string of first rounds in slams for Doi. She definitely has not been blessed with soft draws in her slam career.

Re: RG R1 Mariana Duque-Marino def Daria Gavrilova 5-7 6-4 6-4

Exactly.

Mariana is a very natural player, she produces the most beautiful shots. Some of the points she constructs are nothing but brilliant.

Mariana really has quite an arsenal - the slices...

Re: RG R1 Qiang Wang DOUBLE BAGEL (WC) Tessah Andrianjafitrimo 6-0 6-0

Wrong again. She played Strasbourg.

That is two times you did not even check your facts Javi.
Jesus, just google it, then type. lol.

Re: RG R1 Qiang Wang DOUBLE BAGEL (WC) Tessah Andrianjafitrimo 6-0 6-0

Qiang wang played two 50k and one 75k tournament in Asia.

This is 3 ITFs.. hardly... 'non stop'.

Re: RG R1 Qiang Wang DOUBLE BAGEL (WC) Tessah Andrianjafitrimo 6-0 6-0

Andrianjafitrimo is only 17, not a very powerful frame to generate pace like some other youngsters, she is more of a grinder, an inexperienced one at that. Tessah would have been more suited to the...

Re: Roland-Garros R1: Hsieh d. Arruabarrena 7-6 (6) 6-3

I agree.

Su-Wei is impossible to read when she is hitting her marks with those flat shots, today was an example of that. However, on clay, one would think Arruabarrena could find a way to pull...

Re: Strasbourg R1: [Q]Jil Teichmann (WTA#369) def. Kurumi Nara 2-6, 7-5, 6-1

Nice win by Teichmann who has a nice game, lovely lefty slice when she decides to use it.

I wonder how Teichmann would faire off the clay though, her game seems built entirely around slow ball...

Re: Strasbourg QR1 Ramialison d. Dodin 2-6 6-2 7-5

Completely out of touch and lacking in knowledge.

Re: Rome R1: (10) Lucie Safarova def (WC) Francesca Schiavone 6-3 6-2

There is something robotic and relentless about Safarova's game, but it is impressive.

Safarova just doesn't let up, she hits hard, makes few errors, and really hits her marks. She is very well...

Re: Gifu 75K Hozumi d. Mestach 6-3 6-3

Agreed.

Mestach has some game, but doesn't really kick into gear very much, she focuses more on consistency than putting together a game that can pull apart her opponent. I think that she needs...

Re: Serena has two big misfortunes

What an analysis!

... a few lines of "Hardly anyone does that" ... then ... your thoughts.

I hate these threads, no effort by the OP, just trying to stir the pot and spark debate, sit back...

Re: Rabat QF Kiki Bertens def (8) Yulia Putintseva 6-3 6-7(4) 6-3

Kiki hit an ace ... bang on the line.

Putintseva calls the chair umpire down, and points out a mark outside of the line that is clearly not anywhere near where Kiki hit the ace.

Kiki could...

Re: Bogotá Slam: (Q)Pella d. defending champ (2)Pereira 3-6 6-3 7-6(3)

I do not think Pereira and Duque-Marino can be compared.

Duque-Marino is a crafty player, that prefers clay, but can win matches on all surfaces.

Pereira is a one dimensional player that...

Re: Bogotá Slam: (Q)Pella d. defending champ (2)Pereira 3-6 6-3 7-6(3)

I do not think anything is very wrong with Teliana, simply, the limitations of her game at WTA level are becoming evident.

Teliana had some great runs last year on the clay, grinding through...

Re: Bogotá Slam: (Q)Pella d. defending champ (2)Pereira 3-6 6-3 7-6(3)

You are right :

1) Pereira is a loud hot mess at the moment

2) Pereira, with her ranking, should have nonetheless pulled this through

3) Pereira is assuredly on her way down the rankings...

Re: Katowice F: Kato/Hozumi def Melinkova/Ivakhnenko 3-6 7-5 10-8

My analysis:

Miyu Kato is a natural tennis player. She is tiny, but such a well produced forehand, very aggressive and excellent volleys and feel for the court.
Hozumi is the less brilliant...

Re: Charleston R2: [12]Gavrilova def. Zhang Shuai 6-4 6-0

Gavrilova is a very smart player. Her forehand is a weapon, and her backhand holds up very nicely as well. She is an excellent mover, and her anticipation of her opponent's shot is above average, she...

Re: GM, the source of certain press inspiration (not a joke)

There is also hysteric, obsessive and silly fandom on here.

The Babyflowerchinesedavenport incident was cringe worthy and embarrassing, but it is impossible stop the media from using these forums...

Re: Charleston R1: Beth Mattek-Sands def. T. Pereira 5-7 6-3 6-2

I feel sorry for T. Pereira, she is clearly giving it her all in her matches, but a lack of offensive game is undoing her at WTA level at the moment.
The clay season is just beginning though, so...

Re: Charleston R1: Lourdes Dominguez Lino def. Christina McHale 2-6 6-4 6-1

Let me come out and say that I am a big fan of Lourdes.

Lourdes has a beautiful rhythmic loop on that forehand, she gets so much work on it, and height over the net. Lourdes is a joy to watch,...

Re: Croissy-Beaubourg 50K$. R1. Dodin def. Hantuchova 6-2 7-5

I agree, she looked pretty good against Nara, in fact, I have seen her play a few good matches, just fail to close out important points/games.

I am quite confused how Hantuchova is losing all...

Re: Canberra 25K R1 Jessica Moore def Red Foo Ayaka Okuno 7-6 5-7 7-5 3H48Mins

I have seen both of these girls play, neither player flattens out the ball.

This would have been ridiculous to watch, a test of fitness more than a test of skill.

Re: Miami QR1: (12) Maria d. Duan 61, 63.

The only player slugging the ball at Wimbledon last year was Duan. Maria was scampering around the baseline slicing forehands and backhands, exclusively in defense on every point, it was incredible...

Re: IW 2016 R1: Kasatkina def (WC)Hantuchova 6-2 6-4

Hantuchova is milking Wildcards all the way down the rankings.

Not very dignified ... she must be shooting emails off to tournament directors everywhere - "remember me? I am Daniela Hantuchova! -...
