Re: Who will reach Wimbledon 2015 Final from the weak bottom half now?

This is the best of both worlds. People who like battles between the "big" players have the top half, those who like things shaken up a bit have the bottom!

Re: Wimbledon R3: (20) Muguruza def. (10) Kerber 7-6 (14-12) 1-6 6-2

I'll long remember the first set of this. One of the best sets of women's tennis I've seen.

Re: WWW Wimbledon R16: [4] Sharapova vs. Diyas

Williams sisters will be on CC, so this won't be.

Re: Wimbledon centre court behaviour

Probably the most popular female sports person in the UK is Jessica Ennis. Look her up if you don't know who she is.

Re: Kazakh Kween TSARINA Diyas executes Belarussian Beauty Sashulya-GOAT Sasnovich 75

Saw the last few games of this. Diyas was hitting aces and unreturnable serves for fun. Amazing.

Re: Wimbledon 4R: Zahlavova-Strycova def [16] Wozniacki 6-2 7-5

People will criticise Woz, but BZS played some really nice tennis in this match. Really great net play and cross-court backhand in particular.

Re: Wimbledon R3: Zarina Diyas (GOAT) def Vera Zvonareva (WC) 7-6 (1) 3-6 6-3

Only saw the final set but some very nice tennis. I like Diyas' game - it's somehow very neat. Acceptable first serve, moves well, no great power, but still has the ability to hit winners with both...

Re: Wimbledon R3: [6] Petra Kvitova def. [30] Venus Williams 5-7, 7-6(2), 7-5

Just watched a replay of this. A really tense, tough battle. Great tennis.

Re: Wimbledon R1: Maria Kirilenko def. [18] Sloane Stephens 6-2 7-6 (6)

Lol. The end of the second set was an example of why I love tennis. Kirilenko played remarkably well considering how little tennis she's played.

Re: Wimbledon R1: Wickmayer def. Stosur 6-3 6-4

Haven't seen Wickmayer in a while, but she played some really good stuff in this match.

Re: Eastbourne SF: Kerber def Wozniacki 3:6 7:6 6:3

Not a big fan of either player, but this was an excellent match. A real tough battle with some great rallies. Always love it when someone wins a match point by hitting an excellent winner.

Re: Who SHOULD be good on grass?

Rybarikova has had some rough draws at Wimbledon. She's had Vinci, Azarenka, Radwanska in the first round. Maybe nerves, injuries play a part as well. Didn't she have a back injury last year when she...

Re: Will Victoria Azarenka play in Wimbledon?

She shouldn't if last year is anything to go by - she couldn't stay on her feet for more than 5 minutes.

Re: So which Slam has the worst weather?

I know the coldest weather I've ever watched tennis in was at Roland Garros. There's also sweet FA to do there when it rains.

Re: Nottingham to stage WTA tournament

I doubt it's got much to do with BBC coverage. They haven't showed much tennis from Eastbourne at all the last couple of years. Far more has been on Eurosport - BT Sport I assume from now on.

Re: One handed backhand - Dead?

The 1hb won't die completely, but it'll likely stay at the same level of popularity (ie very low) that it currently has. Mainly I think because it's easier for junior players to learn and hit an...

Re: Too many injuries drag down WTA tennis

Interesting thread. Reminds me of what I think was the first conversation I ever had with a tennis pro - was at the Frinton ITF(!) in the late 90's. She was South African (sorry, can't even remember...

Re: Is Cibulkova the shortest finalist at a major in the Open Era?

UK is a bit of a hybrid. Most people here would still give their height in feet and inches (and their weight in stones and pounds).

Re: AO SF: [20] Dominika Cibulkovs obliterates [5] Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1 6-2

Watching the highlights. Really don't like that fugly new serve Domi has, with the exaggerated knee bend.

Re: Which Slam Was Weirder/Worse?

Wimbledon 2013 had two of the best matches of the year in Lisicki v Williams and Lisicki v Radwanska. I can't think of any this AO that would likely make a 2014 list, though happy to be corrected....

Re: Does Sabine Lisicki have the lowest ranking for a Grand Slam finalist?

Depends how you define "well" I suppose. She reached SF in Luxembourg back end of last year. Also finals in Pattaya and Memphis. The way her performances at Wimbledon stand out though is still...

Re: So which Slam has the worst weather?

This is true. I've often watched tennis at RG in a drizzle that would stop play immediately at Wimbledon. It can be very warm at RG, but the coldest I've ever been watching tennis was there.
