Re: Serena has a chance to win all 4 Slams in 2007

She is capable. Her body is still fragile though. I doubt it will hold up all year. But if she wins Roland Garros, the odds shorten significantly.

Re: Serena or Hingis - who will win their 4th Australian Open title first?

Serena has won 8 slams since Hingis won her last.

I think the odds are well in her favour.

Re: AO Final: Serena d. (1) Sharapova 6-1 6-2

We had an argument about that didn't we? Lindsay came through for me

Re: Sam Smith - 'Serena better than anything in 2006'

2006 was a pretty forgettable year, devoid of dominant performances. I can't be bothered hauling over my memory now, but I would say Smith is probably right.

Re: AO Final: Serena d. (1) Sharapova 6-1 6-2

Davenport's court craft was very underrated, and I agree she was certainly a far better tactician than Sharapova. In that US Open quarterfinal she played a lot of returns deep down the middle of the...

Re: Is the AO 2007 Final the WORST one you've ever witnessed?

We have had so many bad finals where both players have been poor in the last 5 years that this thread seems like a joke. All you have to do is look at any of the last 5 RG finals to find a worse...

Re: Maria did not have to smash that ball right at Serena

Remember the incident with ASV at RG98? :o

Re: AO Final: Serena d. (1) Sharapova 6-1 6-2

That's why I said - I'd love to see the clay match up. I have always been suspicious of Justine's off-clay credentials. She's clearly a top player on those surfaces, but she has never been dominant...

Re: AO Final: Serena d. (1) Sharapova 6-1 6-2

Lindsay played a great tactical match in that quartefinal, but I think you are being kind if you call that a peak Serena.

I love Lindsay as much as anyone, and know how absolutely devastating she...

Re: AO Final: Serena d. (1) Sharapova 6-1 6-2

I just hope Serena uses this as a launching pad for the rest of the year. That was the best she's played since 2002.
She can still dominate - I'd love to see the match up with her and Justine on...

Re: AO Final: Serena d. (1) Sharapova 6-1 6-2

She is quite possibly the best women's tennis player that's ever been.

Brilliant, brilliant display.

That backhand passing shot in the second set when Serena was wrongfooted exemplified the...

Re: For a set, the old Martina came back...

I dont know if she has to go for more to open up the court. Hingis actually creates a lot of openings to finish points but, especially on the forehand, she is really incapable of putting the ball...

Re: For a set, the old Martina came back...

Of course, mate. The more perceptive of us know this. It's no coincidence that Kim has played two "horrible" matches against Hingis the last two years at Melbourne Park.

Hingis' length in the...

Re: Kim Clijsters (4) def Martina Hingis (6) 3-6, 6-4, 6-3

Depressing. Hingis had Clijsters right where she wanted her but made the errors at the crucial times. She's competitive enough with just about everyone out there but you have to wonder about her...

Re: Clash of Warriors: S. Williams vs. Jankovic!

Re: [8] Patty Schnyder def Alicia Molik 3-6 6-2 6-0

Molik played top 10 tennis in the first set, and barely top 100 in the last. That's the story.

Good luck in the next round Patty, she is certainly building an impressive AO record.

Re: Reflections on Lindsay's Career (please read)

I guess I raised your biases because you were suggesting that I was relaying my bias in my original post, when I don't feel that I was.

Certainly, as a fan, I appreciate Lindsay's ability to...

Re: Reflections on Lindsay's Career (please read)

Hi Tony, sorry for not responding earlier but I have been very busy.

To answer your first point, I must say that I always considered an "elephant in the room" to be a non-revealed fact that, if...

Re: Davenport: I have "no plans to play again"

Not surprising at all, once the pregnancy was confirmed. It's not her style to do things in half measures.

We'll miss her, that's for sure.
