Re: Guess the unexpected Slam winner(s) in the next 5 years.

Yes. Now they have to have a poor game, poor record in finals and unexpected runs as a prerequisite to beat serena and win a slam.

Re: Is Courtney Nguyen one of the least knowledgeable tennis writers ever?

Ben and Courtney are just fans posing as journalist.
They got hired because of how popular their previous work became, not necessarily because they were good or even logical.
Next people to get...

Re: Guess the unexpected Slam winner(s) in the next 5 years.

Watch out for Benicic in the next two slams, she was a former JR French Open and JR Wimbledon champ not too long ago.

Other randoms that will potentially win in the upcoming slams:

CSN...

Re: Duval knee arthroscopy

Poor girl cannot catch a break. Too bad too, she was in such a big upswing before the cancer scare.

Re: Girls Singles R3: Francoise Abanda (14) d. Taylor Townsend (1) 6-4 6-3

Interesting to see where these two ended up since they've played each other.
This was the year Bouchard won the girls singles and she's by far miles ahead of them now.
Gavrilova and Svitolina were...

Re: Will Kerber be another Stosur?

You missed Pennetta.
The difference was, the media was really captivated by all of those other wins, including Kerbers. For whatever reason Stosur was ignored except for Australian media.

Re: Midland 100K QF Anderson d. Sanford 5-7 7-6(5) 6-4 2:51min

Robin is a sweeheart and I love her game. Hopefully she can crack the qualifying ranges soon for slams.

Sanford and Kingsley have very good games and can really well with these pro players, it's...

Re: Was Women's final more entertaining than men's?

Thread should be renamed: Djokovic is the worst player of all time, and I hate everything about him because he beats Federer. But let's use Serena as the subject to compare so it's WTA relative.

Re: Midland R1 King Raveena def. Anna Tatishivili 7-5 1-6 7-6(4)

Raveena's been on fire lately. If she goes deep in this tournament again, I wonder if she will reconsider throwing away her tennis career to go to college.

Re: $100K Midland R1: Naomi Broady (GBR) d. (6)Nicole Gibbs (USA) 64 76(4)

Naomi takes out another brat.
OK I guess Gibbs has humbled down since her losing streak last week.

Re: Midland 100K 1R: Veronica Cepede Royg def Taylor Townsend 7-6 1-6 6-3

What is interesting is how many posters are kicking this poor girl while she's down.
Yes she's not ivanovic skinny, but to insult her this much when her life is spiraling down is sad to see.

Re: Midland 100K 1R: Veronica Cepede Royg def Taylor Townsend 7-6 1-6 6-3

Everyone seems to have forgotten that Taylor was on her way to a better shape, looked much fitter last January when she entered the top 100.
And then she fired her coach to go with DYSr, which then...

Midland 100K 1R: Veronica Cepede Royg def Taylor Townsend 7-6 1-6 6-3

Taylor's downhill path since getting Donald Young Sr as a coach shows no sign of stopping.

Re: What will be Serena's final pro tournament?

US Open 2017, where she first won her first slam, she will end with participating as her last slam. And she will win her 22nd slam.

Re: Serena's greatest legacy before retirement: Giving players maiden slams?

True, I guess not even Serena's slam finals GOAT level matched up to Angie that day.

If Serena retires her career this year before winning another slam...

Will her GOAT debate be put to rest? Will it permanently make Graf and Court ahead of her?

Do people feel that her career will be incomplete? Or just at the right spot?

Re: What if Serena doesn't get to 22 this year?

Everyone is so certain that she will win another slam so easily....
Let's remember she said it herself, she's not a robot.
She was graciously happy to see someone else win a slam, and it doesn't...
