Re: How does Monica Puig pronounce her last name?

Yet her "horrible" mispronunciation apparently didn't make her any less German. :wink2:

Re: How does Monica Puig pronounce her last name?

Which makes it curious as to why she plays under the Puerto Rican flag. Especially since she was raised in Miami.

Re: How does Monica Puig pronounce her last name?

I think it depends on which language she is speaking at a given moment.

When Sabine is speaking English, she pronounces her first name "Sah-been," when she is speaking German, it is...

Re: US OpenR3 (24)Sabine Lisicki won last 6 games def Barbora'Choker'Strycova 6-4 4-6

:yeah:
Barbora's game didn't change one bit at 1-5 -- Sabine's took a 180 degree turn. Barbora never saw what hit her!

Re: Miami R1: [WC] Badosa def. Cetkovska 6-1, 6-1

Poor Petra. She doesn't need to be playing with a knee or a hip injury, but I guess she figures she will be injured regardless, so she might as well be on the court.

Re: Personal experiences with WTA Players

This reminds me of a Rodionova doubles match in Miami in which I was sitting right underneath the chair umpire on one of the smaller courts when Rodionova went on a five minute tirade over a service...

Re: Indian Wells RD1. Christina McHale def P.Cetkovska 6-4 7-5

I was going to say before the match that it was good to have Petra back, but her movement looked way off. Hopefully it was her just getting used to playing a match again and maybe the windy...

Re: Simona Halep's cousin committed suicide

But suicide is such an irrational decision made by someone whose mind is often clouded by some form of mental illness. Simona's cousin apparently had a gambling addiction. While we can argue whether...

Re: WTA H2H that never happened

Maybe you wish they hadn't played, but Sabs has beaten her three times.

Lisicki/Gajdosova should happen for the first time this week, assuming Jarka gets by Vinci and Sabine's annual...

Re: WTA website dead.

Tennis TV's Twitter page said their "technical partner" was having difficulties. They must have the same "technical partner" as the WTA. Anyway, I could care less about the WTA website as long as I...

Re: Simona Halep withdraws from Sydney

Good idea. The WTA needs this kind of thinking throughout the entire year. Instead, the schedule itself makes it harder for the players to pace themselves properly through the season.

Re: Sydney R2: Karolina Pliskova destroys (LL) Nicole Gibbs 6-0 6-0

No. Graf won the French Open final against Zvereva in 34 minutes. I believe Margaret Court won a 24-minute match once, but I'm not sure who that was against or when that was.

Re: Sydney R2: Karolina Pliskova destroys (LL) Nicole Gibbs 6-0 6-0

They didn't know who the LL would be even at Simona's press conference. The question was asked and the lady knew the match would be moved to another court but referred to it as the "Pliskova v....

Re: Sydney R32: (WC) Gajdosova (AUS) def. Petkovic (GER) 6-1 7-6 (7-5)

Jarka finally appears to be free of injury/illness and all other issues. Hopefully it will stay that way and she will be able to play the kind of tennis she always showed glimpses of being capable...

Re: Retiring From Singles & Still Playing Doubles In XWTA Tournament ???

And she and Martina won the Miami doubles!

Judging from her results this year, Sabine is now a doubles specialist.:unsure:

Re: Sydney 1r: Sabine Lisicki or Carla Suarez Navarro?

She definitely feels more relaxed playing doubles. If she can learn how to play that way in singles we might see a change in her game like Simona's in 2013.

Re: Habit Breakers - What players succeeded at this to elevate their game/careers?

During Rome 2013, Simona made a conscious decision to quit worrying about results so much and just enjoy playing tennis. She has done pretty well since then. ;)

Re: Worst performance of 2014?

Simona against Keys in Sydney (her first "match" of the year). I remember at 1-6, 0-5 I was yelling at the screen for someone to explain to Simona that the season had started and warmups were over....

Re: After Serena WILLIAMS, who has the most beautiful serve?

Sabine. When her toss is working, she can be unbreakable. But she had shoulder problems and tossing issues this past year that made her serve (especially her second serve) inconsistent. Frequently...
