Re: DRAMA: ERRANI calls out MARIA & HALEP

I watched Errani play her R1 live and there is not a player in the draw that wouldn't have beaten her on this surface. Teliana would have likely played more aggressively and beaten her.

Re: Sharapova OUT of Brisbane

She wasn't hitting her backhand all that effectively in the warm-up this morning and asked her hitting partner right at the end to hit her about 10 feeds just to the backhand side. Obviously didn't...

Re: How do you feel about Svitolina working with Henin this offseason?

Things were clicking at times this year for Svitolina, particularly in Brisbane I thought. She found the perfect combination of offensive and defense for her game and was fighting for every point.

Re: Singapore YEC RR: (3) Sharapova def (5) Radwanska 4-6 6-3 6-4

Radwanska literally could not have played better than she did in the first set. Granted she fell away but Maria upped her consistency.

It was actually a great match in my opinion, much unlike...

Re: Breaking! Serena has withdrawn from the China Open and WTA finals!

Can we please give Azarenka a wildcard into YEC?

Re: Maria Sharapova Withdraws From the US Open

Again I'm not arguing that Serena wasn't injured. I am disagreeing with YOU on the comparison of CONSECUTIVE tournament withdrawals across a 2 month period vs. once off withdrawals  I don't get...

Re: Maria Sharapova Withdraws From the US Open

Exactly. An entirely different situation to this, as you just described it.

Re: Maria Sharapova Withdraws From the US Open

I'm not the one questioning anyone's legitimacy of injury. I'm just not entirely sure why you are trying to compare apples to oranges while thinking they are the same thing.

Re: Maria Sharapova Withdraws From the US Open

So wait. Serena's withdrawal from Rome, followed by her not only playing Roland Garros 10 days later but winning it is actually comparable to this situation?

Re: Maria Sharapova Withdraws From the US Open

Some Williams' fans behaviour when it comes to another player's injuries...interesting :spit:

Re: Serena's perfect response to endorsement gap.

What's your reasoning that you are trying to project for Maria not meeting the criteria? I have an issue when people can't seem to figure out that there are two sides to the one coin.

Re: Serena's perfect response to endorsement gap.

I think the point that you are missing is that there aren't any and it varies from one commercial entity to another. The criteria isn't white and blonde, nor is it how many trophies you have lined up...

Re: Serena's perfect response to endorsement gap.

You are reducing it to how many trophies x and y have won on a tennis court.

Re: Serena's perfect response to endorsement gap.

In my opinion, there is actually an element of reverse discrimination here, in her very first line. The suggestion that companies have marketed Maria purely on the basis of her being white and blonde...

Re: Vandeweghe accuses Sharapova of bad sportsmanship.

It's a combination of tactical play (taking away a preferred serve) and effective returning (reducing the court angles).

Quoting the same video ad nauseum does not prove a point.

Re: Vandeweghe accuses Sharapova of bad sportsmanship.

The people arguing that you need to "select" a return position and lock it in before the opponent tosses up the ball to serve have provided much needed entertainment. Thank you.

Re: Patrick Mouratoglou: "Azarenka is much better than Sharapova. There's no discussi

It has to be misquoted somehow. Azarenka is a tougher match-up for Serena based on the nature of the match-up. If he meant it literally, it's actually disrespectful, but that isn't entirely...

Why does Serena convince herself that she has nothing to lose in matches?

I think that we can all agree that the words 'I have nothing to lose' have become somewhat of a constant feature of Serena's post-match press conferences. For a couple of years it has seemed as...

Re: Australian Open QF: [2] Maria Sharapova def. [7] Eugenie Bouchard 6-3 6-2

I actually think that Maria played really well and the match statistics support that for her off the ground. Eugenie wasn't allowed to play her game and tactics were executed to a very high standard...

Re: Australian Open R4: (2) Sharapova handles (21) Peng 6-3 6-0

It really is amazing how much worse it is to play at that top end of the court, looking into the sun and all. It's just a dog-fight trying to hold serve up that end. And then, when you get down the...

Re: Australian Open R3: (2) Sharapova simply unGOATs basic (31) Diyas 6-1 6-1

LOL at so many posters slaying Zarina in this thread. For the majority of cases it stems from the poster's desire for Maria to lose, which is just sad :tape:

Great improvements made by Maria. Just...

Re: Australian Open R2: (31) Diyas def. Schmiedlova 3-6 6-2 8-6

I can't believe both of my faves fought so hard today, setting up the match I have wanted for ages!

So so so good Zarina
