Re: Birmingham R1: Garbine Muguruza def. Kulichkova 6-3 3-6 6-4

I dont have video, but I saw it. Kulichkova has a way of getting broken without her opponent doing anything. 2 df's and 2 errors on routine balls and the games over. Her forehand crooscourt can get...

Re: Mallorca R1: (7) Ana Konjuh def. (Q) Ons Jabeur 7-6(1) 4-6 6-3

The Konjuh/Rodina match last week was one of the best matches I've seen all year.
I wasnt surprised she lost next round, because that was a grueling match with long crazy rallies. Konjuh has a good...

Re: 25K FERGANA 1st round: Vera ZVONAREVA def Gulchekhra MUKHAMMADSIDIKOVA 6-0 6-0

Its tough to draw a former #2, a Wimbledon/USOpen finalist as a round 1 opponent.
Maybe she'll draw better at Wimbledon and onward!
Good luck to GM!

re: Mallorca R1: Azarenka def Ozaki 63 46 76 (MP's Saved)

Its a good first match back. Now she has a chance to think about it and focus for that 1st game tomorrow
Its not going to be easy. These comebacks never are. She can learn from Sharapova's problems....

Re: Birmingham R1: Garbine Muguruza def. Kulichkova 6-3 3-6 6-4

kulichkova has potential, but she is not consistent and can break herself in important games, just with double faults and hitting routine balls all over the place.
But a lot of power in between the...

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 110

Too many errors from Kulichkova, 3-5

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 110

3-3 in the 3rd. Kulichkova has to get more consistent, but she has a lot of potential. Some of her serve returns are faster than Muguruza's 1st serves

Re: Birmingham R1: [Q] Camila Giorgi def. Natalia Vikhlyantseva 6-3, 7-6(4)

Vikhlyantseva had just played in a final and with round 2 Svitolina, I wasnt expecting much this week. I hope she gets a workable week 1 Wimbledon draw.
Giorgi on a good day can give Svitolina a...

Re: Mallorca R1: Schiavone def Bouchard 6-7, 6-4, 6-3

Tough day for a former Wimbledon finalist. But Zvonareva won and Lisicki is up 3-0, so other Wimbledon finalists doing okay
Anyway, Fran can still play. She was in 2 finals this spring

Re: Vera ZVONAREVA def Gulchekhra MUKHAMMADSIDIKOVA 6-0 6-0

The best part is that she played 3 matches healthy, so far. 2nd best part is the last 2 scores give hope she really is serious about her comeback
But all she can do this week is win the title...

Re: The tour calendar sucks!

How this new era plays with sponsors and countries that have spent money on WTA is interesting to me.
Will China keep supporting big tournaments without a contender from China? Will Doha/Dubai want...

Re: Where will Wimbledon seed Azarenka?

This is an Azarenka being seeded or not thread. Stop with all the Ostapenko arguing here.
I'm answering a question. Stop asking me Ostapenko questions. Lets see if Vika gets seeded, and we will see...

Re: Where will Wimbledon seed Azarenka?

I want to see how she does with expectations, which is an important part of being an elite player who gets good results over time, and if the media covers her. I'm not saying I'm going to read it. I...

Re: The tour calendar sucks!

There also is more money for the players so its hard to get them into tournaments.
Serena and Sharapova a few years ago were taking a break in Feb when Dubai/Doha was being played
The reason they...

Re: Where will Wimbledon seed Azarenka?

I dont know what she's going to do. If Ostapenko turns into a superstar, then winning a major was inevitable
But Muguruza had been in a Wimbledon final and beat Serena in a FO final and that got...

Re: The tour calendar sucks!

Profitable is not just having a tournament. You need sponsors and serious money coming in. Florida already has Miami for 2 weeks. Why would you want the tour to stay there? Most of them want to get...

Re: The tour calendar sucks!

It not that easy to move tournaments. IW & Miami have money behind them. Especially IW with its current owner
Wuhan/Beijing is still a big hope for the WTA. they want a player from China making a...
