Re: Peak Hingis v. Peak Sharapova - Who would win?

Hingis was great but she was always at the mercy of any power player who was playing consistently well. It's basically what sent her to retirement

Sharapova would do it in straights.

Re: Which is Serena Williams's best season so far? 2002 or 2012?

Yeah 2002 was really overrated. Her big wins were only over Venus  she always drew Hantuchova and some of those noughties scrubs  there was no one else who could've won those slams....

Re: Did Clijsters underachieve?

Pre-2007 I kinda think she did. She should've won the US Open in 2003 and maybe the AO in 2004 if she wasn't such a mental midget in finals against Henin.

Given her scavenging of slams during the...

Re: Rate 2012 GS singles finals

The Sharapova hate on this thread :spit: is anyone even aware of the fact that the French Open final was the only GS decider where both players had a positive W/UE. It was fun and a nice contrast of...

Re: The 20 Greatest *Active Singles* Players on the WTA Tour

Seems to be a condition affecting more and more posters on these boards, that of short-term memory. Kuznetsova is leagues ahead of Azarenka, sorry. When exactly did you start watching tennis? 2010?

Re: Why did Kuznetsova end up with a better career than Dementieva and Petrova?

Because she is much better than both of them  she fully earned her slams and would've won a couple more French Opens if it wasn't for Justine. She's THAT good on clay.

Dementieva? Well, it...

Re: Where is the outrage? (WTA just screwed Bartoli)

Whatever, that way she can keep hogging those useless tournaments with that ridiculous schedule of hers. She was seriously overranked from mid 2011 up to mid 2012. Glad she's out of the top 10.

Re: The Rise Cometh.... Lucie Safarova?

For how many years have we been waiting? It's not gonna happen. She'll rise a few more spots but she'll have a lot of trouble getting into the top 10. It's just too crowded at the moment.

Re: Grand Slam of the year 2012?

So many Sharapova haters :sobbing:

US Open, by far. Even though the winner was NID since the Olympics, the top half of the draw was a joy to watch.

Australia was interesting but things were...

Re: Who will end up with more slams at the end of their career, Sharapova or Azarenka

Erm, yes she has, and in a straight-set match too. Wimbledon 2010.

Serena hit nearly 50 UEs against Azarenka in that US Open final.

See the difference?

Re: Players that you came to appreciate/respect in 2012.

Azarenka for sure. Haven't seen a player capable of neutralizing any of her opponent's game as well as she does in a LONG time. And she makes it look so easy. She'll return whatever you throw at her...

Re: Does Petrova still have the GAME to win a Grand Slam?

She always had. She never had the brain to do it though. Seriously doubt she can pull it off again. She's slower and less powerful than she was when she reached #3 in the world (). Should've won...

Re: Who will end up with more slams at the end of their career, Sharapova or Azarenka

No she doesn't  Serena has played like shit in all her matches this year except for the Olympics and Madrid to a certain extent, yet she always won  she knows Maria is tougher, that's...

Re: Who will end up with more slams at the end of their career, Sharapova or Azarenka

No she isn't  everytime Serena bothered bringing her best tennis for Azarenka it was a humiliating beatdown (Madrid, Olympics). All the other times she was half-arsing through her matches and...

Re: Who will end up with more slams at the end of their career, Sharapova or Azarenka

There's nothing opportunistic about Maria's slams. She beat the #1 player in the world in the 1st three and would have destroyed Azarenka had they met in the RG final this year. The road to each of...

Re: Who will end up with more slams at the end of their career, Sharapova or Azarenka

Maria will win 2 more French Opens and an AO. She'll end her career with 7. Azarenka will win 3 Australian Opens and that's it.

Re: Peak Naratilova vs Peak Serena

Oh please... I know it's unfair to compare them both but if they both met at their peak levels Serena would beat her 60 60 :spit: Nav would be passed every single time she tried to serve and volley...

Re: Who has the best chance to win a second slam Li Na Or Samantha Stosur?

That's very true. I expect Stosur to have one last hurrah at RG with a deep run, maybe a final. But I doubt she has it in her to win another major. She would've already won two a la Mauresmo and...

Re: The best matches of the season 2012 (quality wise)

Easily Sharapova-Stosur in Stuttgart. Brilliant epic from both. Only 3 breaks of serve in 40 games.

Azarenka-Kerber at the Olympics and especially at the YEC were wonderful matches.

Re: Piotr Wozniacki “Now we’re going back to the old system"

Well she's not beating anyone of the big 3 any time soon. Azarenka is probably dying to fix that silly h2h. And she doesn't even able to beat her BFF and former bitch Radwanska. I doubt she'll be in...

Re: Piotr Wozniacki “Now we’re going back to the old system"

Can't believe the top 2 was Wozniacki-Zvonareva at some point... Those were truly sour times.
