Re: Can we talk about Serena's amazing post-match reaction?

I never get excited about how a player reacts to a loss. I do not believe there is a standard other than not acting like a complete idiot; and that line is probably subjective at best. Certainly...

Re: Most number of MPs saved on-route to winning a Slam?

It would appear then that Kerber has the distinction of the only slam champion to have won the title by saving a MP in the first round. A terrific future sports trivia question.

Re: Serena and Graf and the GOAT Debate

Well let me point out what is vitriolic about your postings:

1) Just because a crazed Gunther Parche stabbed Monica Seles you imply all fans of Steffi are crazed. I can speak for myself that as a...

Re: A New Perspective on the Kerber -Hantuchova Match

A refreshingly sensible posting- somewhat rare on this board.

Re: A New Perspective on the Kerber -Hantuchova Match

Umpires/officials of sports contests are human and they occasionally make errors. All sports are prone to such a fact of life. A few years ago in American baseball a Detroit Tiger pitcher pitched...

A New Perspective on the Kerber -Hantuchova Match

Perhaps this incident and/or call in the Beck match will absolve Angelique’s perceived guilt in the Hantuchova affair. I could never understand the umbrage some posters of the TF harbored against...

Re: My article: Kerber's Australian Open triumph

Kudos to your article as I enjoyed it immensely. I’m not a particular fan of Angelique but I usually cheer for her unless she plays against one of my favs. I remember vividly the 2014 Wimbledon match...

Re: Aus Open Final: (7) Angie Kerber SHOCKS (1) Serena Williams 6-4 3-6 6-4

If you were to review the third point of the second game in the third set and the first point of the fourth game in that set (Serena serving) and you can still dismiss those points won by Kerber as...

Re: Will Angelique Kerber win the Golden Slam this year?

Well one thing is absolutely certain: she is the only player who can do it. So I vote "yes". Not that I would be totally despondent if my vote does not bear fruit.

Re: AO R1: (7) Kerber def. Doi 6-7(4) 7-6(6) 6-3 (Saved 1 MP)

I guess this is a glass half empty half full debate. From my perspective, I view the match that Doi was lucky to have won the first set and she faced three consecutive set points in the second set...

Re: Aus Open Final: (7) Angie Kerber SHOCKS (1) Serena Williams 6-4 3-6 6-4

Some further reflections on this match: Kerber won the coin toss and elected to receive. Probably a wise decision because it would be the only game that it would not be absolutely imperative for her...

Re: Why hasnt Kerber done better in her career?

I presume today's victory makes all the previous August/15 postings herein moot.

Re: AO R1: (7) Kerber def. Doi 6-7(4) 7-6(6) 6-3 (Saved 1 MP)

I think the fact that Angie faced a MP ln this match is over emphasized. To quote Martina Navratilova who beat Steffi in 1986 USO SFs having overcome 2 MPs in the third set tie-breaker-“ I was not...

Re: Aus Open Final: (7) Angie Kerber SHOCKS (1) Serena Williams 6-4 3-6 6-4

What a fantastic performance by Angelique; the new No. 2! Some unbelievable points won by Kerber in particular: the third point of the second game of the third set and the first point of the fourth...

Re: Kerber with her new personal HCR as #4 (#2 if she wins the final)

Well at least it is a hell of a lot better than succumbing to a match point in the first round.

Re: WWW AO Final: Serena Williams vs. Kerber

I’m picking Angie to win because if she indeed does win, it would make possible for a terrific trivia question in future sports trivia contests in which I would surmise most would be unable to...

Re: AO SF: Serena Williams polishes off Radwanska 6-0 6-4

Well at least the second set was competitive. Aga was serving at 4-4 with a 40-15 lead and there was a glimmer of a chance she would hold and perhaps get another break of serve to send the match into...

Re: AO '16 QF: Kerber def. Azarenka 6-3 7-5

Well it was a case of not closing the deal in the second set. Despite having a 5-2, two service breaks advantage lead and getting to 40-0 and 40-15 leads in the two service games serving for the set;...

Re: WWW AO R1: (3)Garbine Muguruza vs. Anett Kontaveit

Well I'm glad you seem to no longer take umbrage at Anett being labelled as an Estonian beauty. I must confess although I've been proud of Kai's accomplishments, and although she is OK in her looks...

Re: WWW AO R1: (3)Garbine Muguruza vs. Anett Kontaveit

I do not dispute the veracity of the cliché "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" but I would suggest the majority at least of the male persuasion would view that the Estonian beauty to be the more...

Wink Re: WWW AO R1: (3)Garbine Muguruza vs. Anett Kontaveit

I'll pick the pretty Estonian mainly for my ethnic affinity but also I dare say she is easier on the eyes.

Re: Auckland QF: (Q) Tamira Paszek df. (Q) Kirsten Flipkens 6-4 6-7(3) 6-3

Two players who had previously made some noise at Wimbledons past. One of them had to win so for 2016 it provides visions of mistletoes and reindeers for their fans of the player who prevailed.

Re: Muguruza on the WTA : "We all hate each other. Literally".

I don’t think there is anything remarkable about this quote. It really applies to any competitive situation in any work place. I mean say for example in a sales situation is one really happy a co...
