Re: Wimbledon Wildcards

I could think of 30000 or so reasons why, also with an injury history like hers she might not be certain of main draw opps so I guess she's coming from that angle. It was up to the AELTC to maybe...

Re: Wimbledon Wildcards

I'd say she'll get one of the last to be announced QWC, and she'll have a chance to play the prequalies Brits only thing I imagine if they're still having that. Shame Amanda Carreras at around #280...

Re: Wimbledon Wildcards

I understand Laura Robson is a "name" in the UK tennis scene but really she doesn't merit a wild card this year. Hopefully she proves me wrong though. Melnikova is more surprising, 27 years old and...

Re: Which Roland Garros Final was Better?

Seles & Graf had such an intense personal rivalry at that time that it just elevated the tension of their matches beyond the others. It felt like an event every time they were due to face off...

Re: RG 3 : Yulia Putintseva (KAZ) d. Karin Knapp (ITA) 6-1 6-1

Putintseva having a very impressive tournament scorelinewise too. Not a fan but she gets everything she can out of her game.

Re: FO R2 Lucic/Krunic d. Atawo/Spears 7-6(6) 6-3

Miki ruining the American pair's slams this year. She put them out in the 2nd round in Australia with Strycova and then today again with Krunic. Good pairing of power player with someone with good...

Missed this match, sounds like a good contest. Any highlights anywhere? Glad to see Vee win and nice to see Anett playing good ball by all accounts.

Re: RG R1: Lucic-Baroni demolishes (Q) Hantuchova 61 62

Solid and sensible in the conditions from Miki. Dani a shadow of her former self.

Pleased to see her get through, didn't think she'd survive both Oprandi and Kanepi in her section so after them Haas must've seemed like a reward, no disrespect to Barbara intended. Hopefully Vero...

Re: Rome SF (1) Serena Williams def Irina-Camelia Begu 6-4 6-1

Solid performance in tough conditions. Great week for Begu. Nice to see a good handshake in this one from the loser.

Re: Karatancheva on Siegemund: "I wanted to beat the s*it out of her"

I know it's on Facebook as I saw it too, but ultimately this was on someone's personal page, not a public or fan page, and somebody was commenting via that page to them. I'm not sure it's that cool...

Re: Anyone Remember Chicago?

I remember it too, very fast indoor carpet. It was usually in February and for a while was back to back weeks with the Virginia Slims of Washington which was equally fast. The draws were always...

Re: Istanbul F: Buyukakcay makes history and def. [5] Kovinic 36 62 63

If she's not injured that's very disappointing for her doubles partner in her first WTA final who could've tried to gee her up and do some of the extra work in an extremely winnable match.

Nice to...

Re: Bogota Final: Falconi def. Soler 2-6, 6-2, 6-4

6-2 2-6 6-4

Silvia folded like a cheap chair after she went up 4-3 30-0 and serving, 2 double faults in a row from deuce to be broken is criminal. Both players fought hard and some good rallies...

Re: Shriver: Have my doubts if Serena will have a comeback

Some people are desperately grasping onto this no titles since August last year without adding the fact that that means the grand total of 4 events in the 7 months since! 2 finals in those 4 events,...

Re: Bogota R2: Panova d. Perrin 7-6(7) 7-6(7)

Glad to see Panova didn't waste her win over Svitolina and also pleased she won these two matches, she specialises in losing these types of matches.

Re: Navratilova: Serena has to found back her passion

She's pretty much spot on. It's clear Serena is still the best in terms of tennis playing ability, just the mental aspect not quite there at the moment which is understandable given her long career...

Re: Are you more, the same, or less interested in the WTA than one year ago?

To be honest less though I'm still very interested. I spend less time watching whole matches, years ago I could have sat through 8 hours straight coverage (if time allowed). I think the matches...

Re: Which Grand Slam Final Outcome Would You Reverse

I'd give Sabatini the '91 Wimbledon final over Graf. So close and Gaby was way better than her one slam singles and career peak of #3 suggests. She was a great player in the era of several all time...

Re: Watson vs Konta at Wimbledon - crowd loyalty??

She would if she were 3-0 up on Serena in the final set on Wimbledon centre court of course.

Re: Watson vs Konta at Wimbledon - crowd loyalty??

Watson is still a lot more well known and would probably get much more support but it wouldn't be as vocal as against non-GB players. Still think Robson would get the most support if she makes it...

Kuala Lumpur R1: Naomi Broady d. Klara Koukalova 6-3 3-6 6-3

17 aces from Broady, that's tough for anyone of a similar ranking to compete with, she's definitely been deserving of her top 100 place based on her past 6-7 months play. Koukalova going nowhere fast...

Who is the bland woman commentating on the Halep match on BTSport? Getting paid to sound half asleep and barely has sufficient English to form more than a basic sentence.
