Re: Peak Venus would destroy Peak Serenka in straight sets

That is true but it is telling that players with only 3 or 4 slams in many cases are better than 7 slam Venus on all surfaces but grass in a time in age there are only 2 weeks of important grass...

Re: Peak Venus would destroy Peak Serenka in straight sets

What a joke. Venus is probably the most overrated player of the last 10 years. Without what is these days amounts to a tiny 4 week grass court season (basically 2 weeks for most) her career would...

Re: Says Azarenka, Serena is the greatest player of all time

The title of this thread is about whether Serena is the best ever. It is not whether Graf is or not. Graf is not the Federer of womens tennis anyway, the hands down consensus GOAT, there isnt one...

Re: Who is better: Mauresmo or Sabatini?

Game wise here is how I would compare them.

Forehand- Sabatini (no contest IMO)

Backhand- Sabatini by a bit. Both ladies had great backhands, probably their best shot. I just think Gaby's...

Re: Beijing F: Azarenka def. Sharapova 6-3, 6-1

When Serena is talked about in the context of current players she is in no way overrated. She is head and shoulders the best player of her era, the best player today, everything else the best except...

Re: If the Williams Sisters weren't tennis players- who would've won their slams?

Henin and Mauresmo were HUGE chokers. I think another surprise winner, so whoever was the best player Venus & Serena beat in R16 or R32 or something. HingisGOAT, I believe that player was Rubin...

Re: If the Williams Sisters weren't tennis players- who would've won their slams?

I agree Henin and Mauresmo are about the same level on grass, but Mauresmo also wouldnt have won Wimbledon in another era. Neither would have Sharapova. Kvitova wouldnt have as early as she has...

Re: Says Azarenka, Serena is the greatest player of all time

Navratilova's 18 slam singles title is not only not even close to a record, but not one of the arguments used for her being the GOAT. In fact if anything it is one of the counter arguments used by...

Re: Says Azarenka, Serena is the greatest player of all time

What an incredibly stupid post. Nothing about your post addressed anything about my very simple and straightforward question. What single argument even if you eliminate Graf would...

Re: Greg Garber(ESPN): "Petra Kvitova - the biggest disappointment"

The worrisome thing for Petra is even when she played well this year she still lost to Serena and Sharapova. The feeling before this year was when Petra played well she would usually win the title,...

Re: If the Williams Sisters weren't tennis players- who would've won their slams?

Yeah womens tennis would have been so weak without the Williams sisters. I know we had some different choices, but both are ours illustrate just how weak it would have been. The fact I even somehow...

Re: Says Azarenka, Serena is the greatest player of all time

Why are you so obsessed with Graf in a thread about Serena being the GOAT. Attempting to eliminate Graf does not make Serena's claims any stronger. I agree Graf benefited from the Seles stabbing...

Re: Says Azarenka, Serena is the greatest player of all time

3 slams is not close IMO. It is like saying Sharapova's slam total is close to Venus or Henin. Anyway that doesnt even matter since Evert and Navratilova do not hold the slam record, they are only...

Re: Who is better: Mauresmo or Sabatini?

I agree with all you said except the part of the Australian Open win for Mauresmo. She was winning the match and decisive 3rd set vs Clijsters at the time of her very legitimate injury, and it isnt...

Re: Who is better: Mauresmo or Sabatini?

I disagree about it not even being close in achievements. Mauresmo's only edges are 1 more slam and a bit of time at #1, but never ending a year there. Sabatini has 1 more WTA Championship, about...

Re: Who is better: Mauresmo or Sabatini?

All this is true except for Jennifer. She always did pretty well with Jennifer, even winning many of their matches in 01/02 when Jennifer was at her peak, so I dont think Jennifer was a match up...

Re: Who is better: Mauresmo or Sabatini?

How many major events would Mauresmo have won had her prime been from 1988-1992 instead? I would guess zero, and that includes the WTA Championships as well. She doesnt have the game to take on...

Re: Who is better: Mauresmo or Sabatini?

I think Sabatini is better. She played in a much tougher era. She had to deal with Graf, Seles, Evert, Navratilova, and Sanchez Vicario for years. When Seles was stabbed, Graf became frequently...

Re: If the Williams Sisters weren't tennis players- who would've won their slams?

Definitely not. She was Davenport's little bitch in 1999. Maybe about 5% of winning a Davenport-Hingis final sans Williams that year. She would have had a better shot in 2000.

Re: If the Williams Sisters weren't tennis players- who would've won their slams?

Hingis is the same size as Henin, Henin back in 2001 was already hitting harder than her, and Hingis was retired before Henin won her first slam. Henin owned Capriati since day 1, even beating her...

Re: Worst blown opportunity at RG for Hingis?

Watch many of these points closely. Errani's groundstrokes mainly land "inside" the service line (and not because she is hitting drop shot, lol), and...

Re: Beijing F: Azarenka def. Sharapova 6-3, 6-1

Azarenka has to be kicking herself for not serving out that U.S Open final. She would have 2 slams vs 1 for Serena, and even if Serena drilled her ass several times this year, it would really mark...

Re: Worst blown opportunity at RG for Hingis?

Schiavone is even much better than Errani, and Schiavone is the worst player to win a slam since Chris O Neil.
