Re: From poster 'Stefi62' : Amy Frazier practicing for a comeback!!! *woo hoo*

She had a pretty good record against Sanchez Vicario.
I remember her beating Myskina at Wimbledon (when Myskina was no.2 seed) a few years ago, the flat groundies were on that day!

Re: Wierd head to heads

I think one player Monica started having difficulties with after her comeback was Novotna. She used to beat Novotna routinely before, but I think after her comeback she lost 2 of 3 matches against...

I think both Weingartner and Barna were treated very badly by the German Tennis Federation, both would have qualified for the Olympics under the standard rules. I remember the other players were...

Re: Kristina Brandi has retired

That's disappointing news.

She scored some good wins in her career, including over Dokic, Martinez, Frazier, and was the kind of player who always made her opponent win the match. Surprised she...

Re: Clips or Accounts of REALLY BAD Handshakes

Do you think Tatiana was just releived to have gotten that shot in the court, or deliberately trying to put Smashnova off? It did seem out of charachter for her.

Re: Is serve-and-volley dead?

I beleive that Roberta Vinci does it on a regular basis (from the matches I have seen)

Not surprisingly, her best results have come on grass and indoor surfaces, and her worst results on clay.

Re: Players who have lost 6-0 6-0 in a final

Reinach d. Kuhlman 6-0 6-0 1993 Auckland final

Interestingly, their next match was just over a year later in the first round of main tour US tourny, where Kuhlmann spanked Reinach 6-1 6-1. I...

Re: The worst player to reach a GS Semi

I disagree ith the inclusion of Marianne in this list. Marianne scored some good wins in her career, admittedly outside of the Grand Slams, where her best performance was left for Melbourne in 1995....

Re: Where's Bardina?

I beleive she was also double bagelled at the French 1st Round, and then was close to being double bagelled at Wimbledon 1st Round, so perhaps the confidence took a dive following those GS matches.

Re: Clips or Accounts of REALLY BAD Handshakes

Patty used to have a long history with Kournikova, as well.

I remember one year at the Australian Open they played against each other in a doubles match, and Patty was quite clearly aiming the...

Gosh the slump has hit an all-time low. Not sure whether she's still got injury problems but let's hope Lilia doesn't draw a top seed at the US Open (assuming she qualifies), surprising score even...

I think we can add Lilia Osterloh to the list. She was thrashed 6-1 6-2 by Daniela this week, when a year ago at this event she pushed Lindsay to three tough sets. I think she has had injury...

Yes I remember Francesca. I saw her play as a teenager live back in 1996 at the Aus Open. She qualified & was playing Aussie No. 1 Nicole Provis, ranked in the 40's at the time. Francesca was...

Maria Vento is another one who has been flirting with a slump but then has scored occasional good wins to compensate. She had a dismal clay season, but scored a good win over Daniela at Eastbourne...

Martinez: Try to take the ball early and move her around, otherwise the topspin, slice and moonballs will have you engaged in endless baseline exchanges. Another strategy might be to approach the net...
