Re: How would prime Kerber/prime Dementieva match-up turn out?

How many of these players has she beaten successively though? She's also been pwned by Radwanska, Errani and Bouchard at the back end of Slams too.

Anyway, my original reply to the thread question...

Re: How would prime Kerber/prime Dementieva match-up turn out?

Prime Dementieva ('04-06), did almost everything better than Kerber. No fictitious.

Dementieva could endure those high-octane rallies just as well as Kerber, and she hit a fundamentally bigger...

Re: How far will Kristyna Pliskova go?

K.Pliskova is like the novelty version of Karolina. She's more expressive, she plays bolder- but ultimately she kind of just sucks. Concrete footwork, and the same inability to bend her knees is all...

Re: Was Women's final more entertaining than men's?

Undoubtedly. Murray-Djokovic are always terrible matches.

Re: Marion Bartoli commentating

It's not about her though. Commentary is to observe and report, not plug your autobiography on air.

Re: The second serve (speed) in recent years

Would like to see Stosur's speed during the 2010 FO. That shit was heavy.

I think in general, more women are adopting more topspin on their second serves. I think it's still incredibly hard...

Re: Date-Krumm to undergo knee surgery

Oh give it up girl. I somewhat admire her dedication, but she's like 207 years old in tennis years.

Re: Marion Bartoli commentating

Yep. Always pointing out very obvious plays and then follows with a tiresome anecdote about how she could've better. Bartoli's commentary makes me think she believes she was a legendary, revered...

Re: 2016 AO SF: (1) Serena Williams polishes off (4) Radwanska 6-0 6-4

Never EVER in doubt. Radwanska's puff-balling doesn't hurt Serena at all.

Expected a let-down after that delicious first-set, but everything went as it should. Serena taking the ball early...

Re: Federer calls Sharapova and Davis b*tches

This.

Even if it was perhaps a bit ungracious, all these posters crying 'MISOGYNY!!!!'. Get perspective- or help.

Re: 2016 AO QF: Serena Williams eviscerates Maria Sharapova 6-4 6-1

The epitome of NID. Even on her deathbed, Serena would still be finding ways to save BP's with aces.

Re: Who were our rising stars ten years ago?

Yep, I remember in Ace magazine, there was an article about her 'hitting the ball like thunder' or some ridiculous hype when she was still only 13

I remember British Tennis being so THIRSTY...

Re: Vika Azarenka exorcises Barbie Strycova 6-2 6-4

As if. This girl is trying harder to be popular than Kim Kardashian trying to keep her knees together.

Re: Australian Open R4: [7] Angelique Kerber def. Annika Beck 6-4 6-0

Beck has always had a tidy game with nice athletic ability, but all she can really do is grind until she's worn down the rally enough to go for a winner. No firepower at all.

Kerber has looked...

Re: AO R4 (Q) Shuai Zhang def. one-legged (15) Madison Keys 3-6 6-3 6-3

Zhang really lucked out here. Was getting routinely blown off the court until Keys started to hobble around.

The QF vs Konta is going to be fugly.

Re: AO R3: Keys def. Ivanovic 4-6 6-4 6-4

Pretty much. Keys actually had composure in rallies and wasn't just reverting to her low % type. Her court coverage and general defensive play looks much improved too.

So you're discounting originally tall women on a technicality?

Re: Who was the first WTA player taller than 5'10"

Certainly Shriver wasn't seminal. Althea Gibson was 5'11 for a start.

Re: AO R3: Serena Williams EVISCERATES Kasatkina 6-1 6-1

Beatdown. Every youngster has to endure their schooling, so hopefully Kasatkina won't be too discouraged.

Re: WWW AO R4: Serena Williams vs. Gasparyan

Gasparyan's game is cute and extremely versatile, but she just won't get enough time on the ball if Serena plays like she did today. Can't take the ball early enough on her BH especially.

Serena...

Re: Which Was Venus' Third-Best Season?

Definitely 2008. Her most consistent year at the Slams since 2002/03 and she won a Slam, YEC, Tier 1 and Olympic Gold. The YEC run was her best showing against elite players since her heyday too.

Re: WWW AO R3: [5] Maria Sharapova vs Lauren Davis?

Gimme draw for Martha. Until she (probably) plays Serena, she's going to romp through this section.
