Re: Seoul R2: [1]Ostapenko d. Hibino 6-2 6-2

The serve was a mess as usual (10 DF in a 6-2 6-2 victory :help:) but it only goes to show how excellent her ground game is. Aljona really needs a WTA title and I hope she can grab her first one...

Re: Las Vegas 1/4 finals: Karatancheva thunders past Chirico 60 61

I do admire how brutally honest she is about herself
Still waiting for that thunderous return... I guess this tournament is a good start. :p

Re: Tokyo Int. final: Zarina Diyas d. Miyu Kato 6-2 7-5

Well done on your first title Zarina! :yeah: And it comes at the tournament where she reached her only previous final in 2014. Great comeback for her - onwards and upwards!

Re: Kvitova acknowledges that losing to Sharapova @AO12 is the worst moment in her ca

That was such an odd match. I seem to remember Petra having an easy chance to go up 0-40 in that game and missed it with a sloppy error and ended up losing that game and the next.

Re: Tokyo R1: Real Japanese #1 Kurumi Nara def. Naomi Osaka 6-3 6-0

Nara is a hardcore pusher who sucks the life out of her opponents, so I'm not surprised she dragged Naomi, perfect opponent for her really :hysteric:

Re: Tokyo 1R: Krunic def. [WC] Kimiko in her last match 60 60

Truly the end of an era for me. The first tennis tournament I ever watched from front to back was Wimbledon in 1996. With Kimiko's retirement, that means only Martina Hingis and Patty Schnyder remain...

Re: Americans won 4 out of the last 5 junior grand slams. Good sign for American tenn

Winning in Juniors isn't always a sign of success in the pros. But there are plenty of good signs. I think Anisimova and Osuigwe have the most potential of those girls. The fact that Liu is still...

Re: USO Girls' Final: [4]Amanda Anisimova (16yo) def. (wc)Cori "Coco" Gauff (13) 6-0

I'm a bit worried by Anisimova's difficulty in closing out matches. I still have painful memories of her blowing a 6-3 5-4 lead at the French Open against Nara and then the fact that she needed 11...

Re: US Open final - Sloane Stephens destroyed Madison Keys 6-3 6-0

Sloane was just so solid and consistent. Only 6 UE's  Now that's how you play defensive tennis. Impressive victory, amazing comeback! :worship:

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 113

Well it's over. Sloane was really solid, Madison was error prone. Too bad it couldn't have been a better match.

Re: Ponte Vedra R1: 14 year old Madison Keys d. world #81 Alla Kudryatseva 7-5 6-4!

mboyle :tape: There is one poster I do not miss.

Madison already showed promise at just 14 years old, it's no surprise to see her in a Slam final 8 years later :cheer:

Re: Bouchard withdraws from Quebec while tournament remains $ilent

What a shame about this event... it used to get a decent field once upon a time. Maria Sharapova won her 2nd title here. Other former winners include Jennifer Capriati, Lindsay Davenport, Nadia...

Re: US Open Epic QF: (9) Venus Williams def (13) Petra Kvitova 6-3 3-6 7-6(2)

Great match as always between these two :yeah: This should really have been a final instead of a quarterfinal. Venus was just a bit more clutch in the end. I've always said never to count her out -...

Re: Tornado Black, Tennis Prodigy, Sidelined by an Operation’s High Cost

Agree 100%. Most of her health problems in the article, she would never have to worry about if she lived elsewhere. Poor girl.

Great article, I wondered what had happened to her.

Re: USO R4: (15) Madison Keys def. (4) Elina Svitolina 7-6(2) 1-6 6-4

It's hard to be interested in a player who can't make it past QF of a slam. It would be extremely embarrassing if she becomes #1 this year. Even Wozniacki made slam SF's in her slamless #1 days.
