Re: St Petersburg QF: [2] Roberta Vinci SHOCKS Timea Babos 7-6, 4-6, 7-6

Vinci was tense and nervous the entire match, mad at herself.

Babos was clearly the better player in a way, leading in every set and hitting roughly 45 winners, including 13 aces, but her rally...

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 94

Babos definitely became more patient in rallies, but she is kind of hapless. Very raw player still with bad movement, but she clearly has nice ideas and could be an all court player with great power?...

Re: Who was your favorite player before your current favorite?

Dementieva was my favorite. So many sweet memories and nailbiting wins and losses.

Kvitova is my current favorite, but no one could replace Elena.

Re: BOMBSHELL: Petra Kvitova not working with Kotyza anymore

I remember thinking in 2010/2011 her serve wasn't as developed as it could have been. She wasn't as serve-centered. Now her ground game has gotten worse, but her serve has improved, so she can find...

Re: BOMBSHELL: Petra Kvitova not working with Kotyza anymore

Even with the Madrid and Wimbledon titles in 2014, and random good runs here and there, her game has been in continual decline since a fabulous 2011 season. The only improvement was maybe her serve,...

Re: How many majors will Serena Williams win in 2016?

I hope at least two. I want her to surpass Graf.

Re: Tickets and attending the Rome tournament in 2016

I also will probably go this year, it won't be my first tournament but I was considering looking at prices and everything.

I'd probably go on qualifying weekend and the first two days, perhaps...

Re: Is Kvitova - Sharapova best rivalry among current TOP players?

If Petra could have won today, it'd have made their head to head more interesting. As it stands, Maria, as always, has the upper hand in most of their matches. Kvitova's two wins at the YEC are...

Re: FC Final: Sharapova def. Kvitova 3-6 6-4 6-2

Pathetic year from Kvitova, from beginning to the end. The only salvaging part was beating Serena and to win a big title after it, had it not been for that this would have been her worst year since...

Re: Which Zhuhai VULTURE will ROB a Top 10 spot!?

The first post is probably one of the most intelligently crafted and humorous posts I've ever seen on TF. Or at least since I came here however many years ago.

Wish there were more posters with...

Re: Some notes on the top 30 (or so)

I just don't think players handle pressure or expectations that well anymore. Perhaps it's what led some players (and/or their parents) to go over the edge in the past, but it seems everyone is...

Re: New Haven F: Kvitova NID def. Safarova 67(6) 62 62

Kvitova now has as many titles as Azarenka. Good job. Now she needs to do a bit better in the slams and can then say she's better than Azarenka...

Re: WTA Washington FINAL: Sloane Stephens def. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1 6-2

I think people disliked her attitude, most of which came from being exposed to the limelight too quickly, and then were disappointed in how she seemed to give up matches, coast on easy slam draws, or...

Re: Laura's BACK! Robson is going to play! IT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING PEOPLE!

What happened between Bouchard and Robson? Can anyone clarify for me?

Glad she's back, just hope she avoids Petra early in GS matches. :)

Re: Players speaking non-native languages (other than English)

Kiki's Italian is nice, but she makes a lot of mistakes, even in that one minute span, especially subjunctive, how to say "spero che il torneo piacerà a loro", etc etc.

I'd love to hear videos of...

Re: Rate Serena's French

I come from an English background, and the American/English school system is absolutely terrible in relation to language learning. So many people speak multiple languages (most rather well, or well...

Re: Rate Serena's French

And it's true, most posters use English as a second language on this board I think. That's why I like to read the subforums in German and French sometimes. It feels more authentic.

Re: Rate Serena's French

I'd say her French is rather poor. I don't think she can speak about anything other than tennis, and only in the present tense, in French. Well, probably order food too, but it's the minimum. She...

Re: ROME QF: (3) Maria "Desperate" Sharapova def. Victoria "IDGAF" Azarenka 6-3 6-2

Five of Azarenka's wins over Maria are in finals, including AO, IW, Miami, and Beijing, then a sixth in a GS SF.

Maria's managed to beat her in a GS SF once, one Tier II F, a round robin match,...

Re: WWW Rome QF: Petra Kvitová vs Carla Suárez Navarro

Three of Petra's wins over Carla were indoors and another on grass. The only time she beat Carla on a slow surface was AO 2012, in three tough sets. It'd be similar tomorrow I think, and that's if...

Re: Live Commentary Thread vol 79

IKR? I can't find a stream, but I see they're on the same court where Bouchard was streamed, so I don't think it's a matter of a non-streamed court.
