Race and predictions who will host the 2013 NCAA Regionals

At the end of the season, the top 16 teams host the Regionals. Four teams go to each of the regional. One each from the brackets, 17-32, 33-48,49-64, This year the final 16 teams play at Illinois. Champaign-Urbana

So at this time of the year, we wonder and predict who will host the Regional. For Example 10e wrote today Nebraska's scheduling in playing their first outdoor matches against tough California teams cost them the chance to host the regional. Gouci, say that Irvine is still fighting for an outside chance to host a regional. etc

Here is the current ranking thru 25, with a line break at 16.

Fri., Mar. 29 at UCLA * Los Angeles, CA 1:30 p.m. PT

If Nebraska wins the remaining Big 10 matches especially against MICH and NU, won't that cement their top 16 standing?

Which teams are deemed 'safe' for hosting? CTSEMT? I guess UCLA and USC won't be too disturbed even if they lose against STAN and CAL?

Don't think so.

Also, there is a nice boost for being ranked in the top four because the draw is 1 vs 16, etc

Well, even they lose they have the last match UCLA at USC in April. to look forward to  I think NorCal teams would be more desperate by now.

If you're just looking at UCI's remaining schedule maybe you only see Wyoming and Long Beach St. again in the Big West Tournament as matches UCI can improve their ranking with.

But you also have to look at the teams UCI has already defeated that have a chance to get ranked again.

1. San Jose St. - Potentially plays #58 Denver twice, once in regular season & conference tourney.

2. Pepperdine - Can potentially get wins over #75 LMU, #45 San Diego & #52 St. Mary's plus another ranked win in WCC Tourney finals.

3. Louisville - Still plays #56 Georgia St., #73 North Texas & #66 DePaul all at home & #28 Tulsa on the road.

UCI has a slim outside chance to host but needs help from San Jose St., Pepperdine & Louisville. That's 3 more potentially ranked teams that could boost UCI's ranking.

Also these teams winning their conference tourney would help UCI.

San Jose St. - WAC
Pepperdine - WCC
Tulane - CUSA
SMU - CUSA
Louisville - Big East
Wyoming - MWC

gouci I know that, but still, the schedule of other teams aren't good enough either, no? Well if Louisville upsets UND..but it certainly seems to be a tall order..

say STAN loses to all 3 teams and can't host the Regional(are these two related? dunno but just wondering). Will they petition to make Ojai a Team tournament like men's?

I just hope that in the end, the top Pac-12 schools don't all end up on the same side of the draw.

You mean like last NCAA? That draw was

It's possible this year too, due to STAN's low ranking now. The unexpected? result of STAN not playing Team Indoors?

I don't get it, both Louisville and UND play Big East championship yet they haven't met each other and neither will they meet until the championship?
