1998-2001 (McCarthy, Higuchi, Bellis, Gordon, Liu, Desiatnikov, etc.) Support Thread
Instead of creating individual threads for the best of our next crop of players I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread to post the results of all of our girls born between '98 and '01. McCarthy was born in '97 but it is very late in December and she doesn't have a thread of her own.
Liu, Desiatnikov and Black (Hurricane) won't be playing ITFs for some time to come but we can still keep track of their USTA results. |

CiCi Bellis has been tearing up the strongest U14 tournaments in the world the past couple of weeks. She won the Aegon Junior International in Bolton last week without dropping a set and is now into the final of the prestigious Les Petits As in France. She takes on Andreea Rosca tomorrow (and is also in the doubles partner with Jaeda Daniel).
Good luck CiCi! :) |

Holy crap, I can't believe there is already a 1998-2001 thread. When I started posting there was the 1990-92 thread I think with names like Oudin, Brodsky, Muhammed, etc. in the title.
CiCi Bellis looks like a serious prospect. Hope she transitions to the main junior tour soon. |

13-year old Michaela Gordon won a G4 in Mexico City last week, only dropping one set. :yeah:

I remember a few years ago when future US tennis seemed bleak....it's really great now to have numerous young players we can talk about and watch their games develop. I think it's a really exciting time for tennis here. Obviously some might not do well on the pro level, but at least there are numerous girls to look for. I only wish the US boys program was doing as well. There are a handful of good players, but nearly as many as the girls.

I would recommend Raquel Pedraza and Kylie McKenzie.

Chloe Ouellet-Pizer and Ena Shibahara are also players to watch out for.
Chloe is a moonball queen  And Ena is like Hibi. Just won G18 National Open dbls. Both are on the same class as McCarthy. Michaela Gordon too, for that matter. Can return pretty much everything and her flat fh drive is quite a weapon. And why I recommend Kylie; South Carolina ITF Columbia, USA05 Nov - 11 Nov 2012 Singles Main Draw Grade 4 Entry: Q Surface: Hard (O) 64 W H2H vs CORCOLEOTES, Alexa (USA) 6-1 6-0 32 W H2H vs KINGSLEY, Raveena (USA) 6-2 6-2 16 L H2H vs MCCARTHY, Kaitlyn (USA) 6-4 4-6 3-6 Q64 W H2H vs EDWARDS, Delaney (USA) DEF Q32 W H2H vs SIERZPUTOWSKA, Alicja (POL) 6-2 6-2 Q16 W H2H vs BRIGHT, Anna (USA) 6-2 6-3 She's already quite tall and hits flat drives with pace, quite effortlessly. I think she's a year behind Kaitlyn? Does Sofia Kenin have a separate thread? Probably similar level with Cici, methink. |

Kenin does have a separate thread.
I've seen Chloe play a few times and I'm far from impressed. ;) She's your typical case of a girl who is good in juniors but won't make a dent in college or the pros unless she adds to her game a lot. This thread isn't limited to just the girls in the title though. Pedraza, like you mentioned, is very good. |
