"WTA players are more unstable emotionally" - Tsonga
Q. Seems like very often in the last four or five years on the men's side it's been the top four seeds getting to the semifinals. Hasn't happened that much on the women's side.
JO WILFRIED TSONGA: In tennis, you know, you cannot lie. You cannot lie. If they are No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, it's because they deserve it and because they are the best players at the moment. That's it. Q. Do you have any sense of why it's not that much on the women's side? JO WILFRIED TSONGA: You know, the girls, they are more unstable emotionally than us. I'm sure everybody will say it's true, even the girls (laughter). No? No, you don't think? But, I mean, it's just about hormones and all this stuff. We don't have all these bad things, so we are physically in a good shape every time, and you are not. That's it. *** No PC from Tsonga. What' "all these bad things"? |
Re: "WTA players are more unstable emotionally" - Tsonga
Hmmmm. Whether medical experts would offer any opinions on statements like that or not, athletes shouldn't be dumb enough to make comments like that on the record. I don't see how making a comment like that could possibly be of any benefit to Tsonga or anyone else. He probably should have just politely declined to answer, even if he does feel that way. Some things are better left unsaid. He should learn from the Bobby Riggs of the world.

But didn't he choke 2 MPs to Djokovic in the French Open? He can take several seats.

What a dick.

Re: "WTA players are more unstable emotionally" - Tsonga
Did Tsonga say this in English? Because from his interviews in the past, he doesn't strike me as having good enough English to construct the answer to the second question.

It's true, and it's why we watch the WTA.

Re: "WTA players are more unstable emotionally" - Tsonga
Give the guy a break- English is not his first language.
And almost everyone else feels the same way anyway  |

All the Spanish players bending over when they faces Nadal, would you say they lack testosterone? |
Re: "WTA players are more unstable emotionally" - Tsonga
I think there's some truth to that  That + less reliable serves and physiques means the top women are more prone to floppage.

In any case, how he says this after the women's top seeds have been doing exceedingly well, as they do every slam since a while, is beyond me. It's just a sexist view from him that some women seem to indulge in as well. It is a sad thing to see. |
Re: "WTA players are more unstable emotionally" - Tsonga
I know the reporters like to bait the men into denigrating the women players, but it doesn't mean they have to take the bait every time. I mean, seriously, Tsonga knows nothing about the WTA and its players, why the hell is the idiot media asking his opinion on the WTA other than to bait him into a controversial answer?

Typical double standards from ATP players/commentators. When the women are all getting upset in the early rounds while the men's Big 4 glide through to the semis without dropping a set, it's a sign of how the WTA has no great elite players. When the exact opposite happens on the WTA and the stars get through to the latter stages comfortably, it's a sign of lack of depth. |
Re: "WTA players are more unstable emotionally" - Tsonga
Truth. Whether you like it or not. Women players are much more mentally unstable than the males, especially the top players.
