Serena at Wimbledon is the easy choice. Maria has a great shot to defend RG as well. I'm thinking Serena pulls a 2009-10 and wins AO and Wimbledon, Maria defends Paris, and the big 3 duke it out for the Open.

I don't think Serena will win USO, but she'll replace that with AO to go with Wimbledon.

Also Maria has a good shot because there aren't really many good clay players who are also generally good players.

If only one of them can do it, it's definitely Serena at Wimbledon. Due to her serve she can play mediocre in every other department and still cruise past most of the tour on grass, only the real top players and a truly inspired opponent can make her raise her game or defeat her there. Pretty large gap, then the alleged winner of RG, as the ladies who can challenge that player have clay as their worst surface and will likely be taken out before meeting them. Vika's AO and God's USO are both doable, but not as NID/highly likely as the first two mentioned.

The only person to successfully defend a FO title since the 00s has been Henin, I doubt Maria will do it.

Unlike in previous years, i think taking each slam individually an argument could be made for a successful defense of each one. Of course all 4 would be unlikely, but i think 2 or 3 isn't out of the question.

AO- Vika goes through draws with minimum fuss these days, and the slow hardcourts in Melbourne mean even an on fire BBB probably doesn't get enough help from the court to beat her here. The only person she really has to fear on plexicushion is Serena and she won't have to face her til the semis or final so who knows. Definately the clear second favourite for me.

RG- Maria's 2012 proved that 2011 wasn't a fluke and for all the stick she gets about the weak clay era, she is generally just very suited to clay now with how she likes to hit. Coupled with the fact that there aren't many good clay court specialists anymore, and that Rena tends to go crazy here and again she's the second favourite (as of now) if not the first. She defended Rome last year, why not RG this year???

Wimbledon- Serena, the serve, lack of grass court superstars, 5 time winner,she's defended it twice before. The most likely defending champion of the four. Slight wildcards are that the very unpredictable Petra and Venus have in the past shown form that could match Serena but the chances are slim.

USO- Serena has made back to back finals in 11 and 12, is comfortably the best player on a quick hardcourt, and usually schedules herself well in the summer months and looks better rested than the competition when September rolls around. Plus never defending any of her previous wins could motivate her to back up last year strongly. Serena's hit and miss history in New York and the competence of the rest of the field on hard courts makes her more susceptible to mucking up here though, and i think this slam is the least likely defended.

Serena at Wimbledon for sure unless she goes wacko.

Maria and Vika can defend their titles, I just don't think they will.
