The American has won more Australian Open titles than any other woman in the Open era. McEnroe, #13, never won the French or the Australian. Borg, #7, never won the US Open. Obviously, the Slams are not the only tournaments, but they have to be weighted more heavily than the other tournaments. Also, it's absolute BS that Serena ranks #14 and Agassi is #12. Their careers are mimetic of each other's; Serena's is simply much, much better.

Yes, you're right, but even with 13, that list is crazy to have ranked her that low. Chris Evert should also be ranked above Bjorn.

There's no man with 24 victories. In general, the men don't rack up slams and wins the way women do, so yes, it's possible that given their accomplishments you could rank a man with fewer slams ahead of a woman with more, given where he ranks vs. his "peers" than where she ranks vs. hers.

Federer is frequently referred to as the best player of all time (I still consider this silly, but we will set that aside for now) but he has fewer slams than a number of women players.

I mean if you were going to be realistic, all the "best" players would be men.

I'm aware that they have some cooked up reason to do this but it makes no sense anyway - which is why it's never done outside tennis.

It's done for most individual sports I'd imagine - hard to call individuals GOAT in team sports unless they're really really standout (the Jordans and Bradys of the world).

No, it has nothing to do with whether it's team sports or not. It's not done cuz it's batshit nuts.

Annika Sorenstam is never put in the mix between Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player and what not.

The only person I'd consider putting ahead of Serena with a lesser slam count is Suzanne Lenglen. When she was in the low teens, maybe Monica, but not anymore.
