Historical WTA doubles team rankings
I have a question concerning WTA doubles team rankings. I am looking for the Top2 women teams plus the position of additional grand slam winner teams between 1995 and 2008, but could not find any info on the net.
Such rankings must exist somewhere as these determine which teams can play at the year-ending WTA championships. Before 1995 the American Tennis Magazine carried such rankings, but then they stopped publishing such info. Not even the World of Tennis annuals and the WTA Yearbooks have these data. Have you ever seen such data? Perhaps some other tennis magazine (German, French ?) may contain them. |
Re: Historical WTA doubles team rankings
Hi Elegos,
I want to make sure I understand before digging. Are you looking for the points totals they used for teams to qualify for the WTA Championships/YEC? |

Re: Historical WTA doubles team rankings
Thanks for helping out Uranium-it is moments like this when I love the Blast:worship:
I checked the WTA Media Guides without luck. One source that I know carried the points during some issues was the Wta "Notes and Netcords." It used to be possible to get these online with a lot of digging. |
Re: Historical WTA doubles team rankings
^That's what I used for 2001-2012.

Re: Historical WTA doubles team rankings
The rankings for individual doubles players, not doubles teams, from 1984 to 2012, can be found here:

Thanks to Uranium, we only miss years 1995 to 1998 from those. |
Re: Historical WTA doubles team rankings
Is this link blocked for you too Elegos? It is a link to the 1999 notes and netcords. When I tried it came up "domain blocked."
https://bpb.opendns.com/a/sportsillu...s.wtanews.html Another avenue is to find a tournament program from those years-but it would only help if it were late in the year. |

I will calculate the top teams for 1995 by hand as Uranium did for the other years. |
