One set down now, but he's ahead 4-1 in the 2nd...
ys, u really understands his body language.... Looks like he has finally woken up.

Great , it's 5-1 now...

Go Yevgeny!

He is literally donating the match at the moment. Serving to stay in it..

bubble Nov 13th, 2001 08:47 AM

What is he trying to do????

I was following the scoreboard, shit, he took the initiative and yet gave it away.
Now, seems Ferrero is gaining in confidence while Yevgeny seems to be losing it.

6-5..
Fight Yevgeny!!!

bubble Nov 13th, 2001 08:57 AM

one match-pt wasted....

bubble Nov 13th, 2001 09:01 AM

Whew, that was very close...
Yevgeny won the 3rd set tie-break by (7/5).

Did not expect Ferrero to give him such a close fight. ys, how was the match overall?

Shall go back home tonight and watch the delayed telecast to view this match.

He didn't have to make it that farking close. Why do these guys need extra motivation earning in a single match almost as much as Tier I WTA tournament winner.

ys Nov 13th, 2001 09:06 AM

Yevgeny's level was going up and down all the match. He was making all the play, winners, errors. Once he adapted to Ferrero's game, Ferrero didn't have much to say in the match, Yevgeny should have beaten him pretty easily in the third, but he was playing too lazy at 3:1, 4:2, having the breakpoints, had good chances to double break and finish it off. Ferrero looked completely hopeless by then. But with some easy errors he let Ferrero back into the match, then suddenly it got pretty close. He did get things under control in the tiebreaker. Ferrero was playing about the same level during all match, Yevgeny's level was all the differnece.

well done Zhenya !!!!!!!

Wish i could have seen it

This group can get into some nasty scenario for Yevgeny. I expect him to beat Goran, and expect Guga to beat Ferrero. And that would mean that Kafelnikov would actually need, even with two victories, to beat Guga as well to qualify for semis, and that could be difficult. If Guga beats Ferrero, he'll get his confidence back. And motivation to end year as #1 can bring the best out of him.
