Age that players born 1987 onwards broke Top 100

I've compiled a list of the ages that the players born 1987 and later broke the Top 100. I used the following effects to make it easier to distinguish between the different levels of players we're looking at.

TOP 10: NAME IN CAPITAL LETTERS, BOLD AND UNDERLINE.
Top 20: Bold and underline.
Top 50: Underline.
Top 100: Nothing.

I colour coded each year group so it's easier to focus on a particular age bracket.

1987: Orange
1988: Green
1989: Red
1990: Dark Orchid
1991: Blue
1992: Magenta
1993: Dark Red
1994: Deep Sky Blue
1995: Plum
1996: Lime

I sorted the players in a chronologically ordered list from those who broke the Top 100 at the youngest age, at the top, to those who broke the Top 100 at the oldest age, at the bottom. The two youngest to break the Top 100 from players born 1987 onwards are Karatantcheva and Vaidisova, who both achieved this at 15 years and 5 months of age. But Karatantcheva was two days younger than Vaidisova when she did this so I put her at the top of the list. I used the same method to solve any other ties in age. If there is a tie in days (as is the case with Dulgheru/Erakovic and Suarez Navarro/Malek), I put whoever broke the Top 100 more recently (i.e. the younger player currently) higher as it's more of an achievement to break through at a younger age nowadays.

I'll update this list when any new players born 1987 or later break the Top 100.

You can add Bojana Jovanovski now. Pervak and Halep have to wait since their career high is 51 and 52 respectively:oh:

EDIT: nvm, I see Bojana was already added :)

Um, no? The thread is about the age that players broke the Top 100. I only included those who went on to break the Top 50 at some stage in their career, but the age is when they broke the Top 100. I don't think it's that hard to understand  :o

After winning Dallas Lisicki made the Top 20 so I bolded and underlined her name. :)

Pervak, Halep and McHale have a very good chance of breaking the Top 50 after the US Open.

:wavey: Tatishvili should be in the list. :) She broke the top 100 this july I believe, at 21 years and 5 months.

As far as I understood, the OP only listed the players who went on breaking into Top 50, but when they broke in, he is writing the date they entered Top 100 for the first time. :)

Re: Age that players born 1987 onwards broke Top 100

Well, the main reason that I only included those who went on to reach Top 50 is because if I included all those in the Top 100 the list would be really, really long. Also I wanted to compare those listed to rising players and see the age that they need to break Top 100 to be successful (i.e. become Top 50 or even better Top 20) and I didn't really want to include Top 51-100 because otherwise there could just be some journeywomen who just break the Top 100 and don't really have a successful career. That's also why I only did 1987 and later because you cannot really compare the data from earlier years to now as players were breaking through much earlier then (even 1987 to be honest).

Anyway after what people have said I am thinking of including all players who broke the Top 100 born after 1987 but I'll see how long it takes me to do.
