I don't know, something like in April.

Sometimes we get a Czech article (Idnes) about the team because they need to cut down some girls.

Nicole and Lucie are in 100%. Others?:confused: Girls like Klara, Iveta, Kveta even Barbora are doubtful. Will Birnevora and Ondraskova be on the team?

My prediction is :

Nicole
Lucie

and

Eva/Iveta/Barbora.

Slovakia is goign to be tought if Daniela is playing. If Daniela loses any of her singles, it's over (Nicole and Lucie shold destroys Slovakia #2.).

Key match is Nicole vs Daniela.

I think the Czechs have the upper hand slightly because Lucie is much stronger than the Slovak number 2. But if Daniela wins both her singles then it will be tough for the Czechs as they don't have a great doubles record and Daniela is very experienced in doubles. But Nicole has a very good record against her & I definitely think Lucie has a shot against Daniela if she is on. I think it is going to be a very exciting tie - I just wish I could see it:p I think it will probably end 3-2 either way.

That's arguably Hantuchova's worst surface, which should give the Czechs some advantage.

Tomas Petera is not the captain anymore. He works for an organisation who wants Prague hosting Olympic games.

So maybe Kodat will be the captain.:eek:

Of course Nikki and Lucie are going to play singles. The key for the Czechs is doubles.

The last two years they lost the World Group I Play-Off in a deciding doubles match. (2006 2-3 FRA, 2005 2-3 ITA).

Lucie Hradecka has been having great results in doubles. Perhaps she should be considered.

It may also be time to put up some young rookies like Cetkovska and maybe Hlavackova: they are very good dblz players who will go the lenght to prove themselves in a national tournament. Unlike other Czech WTA girls that have alienated themselves from the team effors by running the "girls on tour" rat race for too long...

Well not only is she having great results, she's been having them with a fellow Czech, Voracova, maybe they could be called up as they are already a team and play together well.
They got to the semis last week in IW losing to the eventual winners Raymond/Stosur.
They also won a title last year in Portoroz together (although they won their semi via a retirement and the final via a walkover :o), I was there and watched them play and they are a solid team.

Kveta played in 2005 with Nicole, and last year with Iveta, and lost both times. :(

Last year, Iveta choked the Doubles sooooo bad, it was a-w-f-u-l.
But still, Kveta kinda ruined the Tie against Italy, back in 2005.:tape:

Iveta really doesn't play that well in Fed Cup. I remember her losing to Viratprasert in a WGII Play-Off. :help:

I'd like to see some new faces in the team. Strycova is a good doubles player, Hradecka and Voracova have been having good results together. Perhaps even some juniors like Vankova or Kvitova.

Just anything so that they don't lose another deciding doubles match. :(

I think it depends more on Daniela's singles because I see both Lucie and Nicole thrashing slovak No.2 be it either Cibulkova or Rybarikova. If Daniela can win both of her singles (which I hope but doubt :o ) let the doubles decide. Although you never know what to expect on clay.

I tought it was Hard courts.

I think on clay Nicole has the edge against Daniela and she never lost a set against her. Even Lucie will have a good shot against Danka on clay.

Whenever someone beats Daniela, it's over.:lol:

The Doubles, I don't know what they're gonna do, they always try Benesova/Peschke or Benesova/Strycova. But they needs to change that.
