Alison Bai

I think that it is time Alison Bai got her own thread. She is currently Australia's top ranked junior on both the WTA Tour Rankings and Australian Rankings. Alison has made a big impression at this year's Australian Open Junior Championships, where as a wildcard entrant, Alison thrashed Serbian Natasa Zoric 6-1, 6-3 before dispatching 4th seed Ayumi Morita, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 to be the last Aussie girl standing in either the singles or doubles events.

Ayumi was one of the strong favourites in this tournament, outstanding win by Alison - although since her results in the asia challenger events shes shown very good form. Definately a top prospect for australian tennis, lets just see if she can make it to the final here (fingers crossed)

Unfortunately she lost to Gullickson, but it seems as though she is making good progress.

Yesterday, Alison Bai was announced as a full scholarship holder in the new Australian Institute of Sport Tennis Program. She will train under the guidance of new AIS Women's Coach, David Taylor, and his assistant, Kylie Moulds. Other full scholarship holders are Alenka Hubacek and Jessica Moore. Congrats

bump!

Alison has jumped up the WTA Tour Rankings and is now sitting at a career high 546! Her doubles ranking also stands at 610. Not bad for a 17 year old, and for all you West Aussie out there, Alison has entered in the Sorrento AMT which commences on March 7

Re: Alison Bai: Career High WTA Singles Ranking No.546

Alison, along with Hubacek and Moore, has entered in the G1 Dunlop Japan Open G1 ITF Junior Event at the beginning of April.

Maybe this is an AIS Tour, and fingers crossed, the girls will play some senior events too!

Well Alison is set to compete in the Japan tournament next week, and will then move on the play in a number of ITF Women's Circuit Events in Europe in the lead up to the French Open. I hope she can crack the top 500 by the end of Wimbledon.

Well Alison is certainly doing well in Nagoya. She won her first round singles match 6-4, 6-4 before thrashing the top seed Kai-Chen Chang 6-1, 6-3 in Round Two. From there, Bai won her third round match against a Japanese lucky loser 6-3, 6-2 to set up a quarter final berth. Alison has also reached the quarter finals of the girl's doubles event, partnering Alenka Hubacek.

Courtesy of these great results Alison will debut in the top 250 on the ITF Junior Rankings. Let's hope she can keep the good form going. A possible Bai vs. Hubacek semi final awaits...

Re: Alison Bai: The Giant Killer in Japan!!

I spoke too soon :o. Alison lost to the No.12 seed from Japan 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the Q/F and with Alenka 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the Q/F of the dubz. She will now go to Europe and compete, along with Casey Dellacqua and Christina Wheeler at the 25k in Biarritz. Good luck...
