My Comments:

Nathalie VIERIN:

Nathalie must be inspired by all of her compatriots who are rising in the world ranking. She's got a pretty good year's start reaching the Final Round of the qualies in Melbourne. Last week, she was competing in her home land at Ortisei $75K challenger where she reached the Quaters ousting the 8th seed/n°88 Emanuelle Gagliardi before loosing to qualifer n°177 Olga Blahotova.
She's up 5 places from her previous best ranking.

Vania KING:
Vania continues her rise in the world ranking. Last week , she reached the 2nd round of the qualies in Tokyo Tier 1 $1,340M loosing to veteran compatriot n°93 Lisa Raymond.

Olga BLAHOTOVA:
Some girls have to wait to produce their best!!...Olga is reaching her highest ranking just after her 30 y.o birthday! Last week, she just produced an incredible run in Ortisei $75K challenger reaching the Semi Finals as a qualifer before loosing to eventual champion n°112 Eva Birnerova.

Shiho HISAMATSU:
That double handed both sides player is having a good sart in 2006. After a 3rd round in the AO qualies, she also reached the last round of the qualies in Tokyo Tier 1 $1,340M with a victory over the 1rst seed/n°36 before falling to 7th seed/n°107 Saori Obata.

FASTER RANKING MOVEMENTS IN THE TOP 10,20,50,100,150,200

TOP 10:
Elena DEMENTIEVA n°8 (+1):
Elena is up 1 place winning the most prestigious tournement of her career: a Tier 1 event in Tokyo. That's the 5th title of her career and gave no chance to Martina Hingis (WC/n°117) to win her 1rst tournement since she's back.

TOP 20:
Anastasia MYSKINA n°11 (+2):
Anastasia is trying to come back at her best. She's up 2 places reaching the Semis in Tokyo Tier 1 $1,340M loosing to eventual champion Elena Dementeiva (3rd seed/n°9) in a tough 3 sets battle.

TOP 50:
Martina HINGIS n°48 (+69):
Martina is already back in the Top 50 after a month on the tour! Last week, she scored her 1rst Top 5 victory against Maria Sharapova (1rst seed/n°4) in Tokyo. She was only stopped by a n incredible Elena Dementieva who played fabulous tennis.

TOP 100:
Samantha STOSUR n°51 (+21):
Samantha is back to the tennis we know and this is a good news for the australian tennis after Alicia Molik undetermined retirement. After a 4th round in the AO, she reached the Quaters in Tokyo ousting 6th seed/n°15 Daniela Hantuchova before loosing to 1rst seed/n°4 Maria Sharapova.

Thanks for the stats, I always appreciate them. :worship:

Considering Martina: I am in awe. On the other hand it must be tough for all the women who try to get into the top 100 for years and never get a WC for a Tier 1 or GS tournament. But as Navratilova said once after being critisized for accapting a WC at a GS for singles: she deserved it with all she had achieved in her career - and wouldn't have gotten it at a younger age.

Sam: Always successfull at home, let's see how it goes.

Myskina: Please come back after all that you went through on the personal side.

Elena: Unpredictable as ever.

Nicole: On the rise, on the rise for sure.

Well thanks for your cheering!!

and also good analysis...I'm also amazed by Martina Hingis come back , she's playing incerdibly well...Like a lot of people, I was a little bit suspicious because: how could she play well after 3 years off, how could she handle the power of todays games...but she proves that if you have amazing talent, you can do it!
