The 20 Greatest *Active Singles* Players on the WTA Tour

Note: This list is completely subjective, and is based on how I think players will be remembered.

Please Read Criteria:
Number of Slams first.
Slam finals is second.
Ranking is third*

Non-slam career titles fourth.
Doubles titles serve as a tiebreak, when all else is even.

*Exception: #1 ranking trumps slam final.

Why have you missed out Myskina and Sharapova? They both have a slam each and should be below Martinez, no?

Is Jen the only one to reach more than one Slam final and have a 100% record in Slam finals?

Kim still has accomplished more, including the No. 1 ranking for a long time. I wouldn't put them above her, yet.

Bump. Demen loses her 2nd final, but this doesn't change anything on the active lists.

Virginia Wade (3-0) and Tracy Austin (2-0) did the same.

I would put Maleeva over Dokic, but Sugiyama over Maleeva also.

For those who say the WTA had no depth, just look at the accomplishments of these amazing players. You also have the likes of Alicia Molik, Petrova, Bovina, Sprem, Hantucova knocking on the door...

Nice list, though I would dispute the order of 10-13 - I don't see why Sharapova's accomplishments so far place her over Myskina. She looks like she'll have the better career and has consolidated her Slam win better, but as of right now I'd say Myskina is more accomplished - note the levels of most of Sharapova's tournament wins compared to Myskina's.

I'm not convinced by Mauresmo being placed over Slam champions Myskina and Kuznetsova, either. I don't think her No 1 ranking is enough to counter those victories, and her relatively poor Slam record mitigates against her greater number of titles.

Yes, I struggled with that placement order too. It's so hard when you have the relatively new concept of a Slamless No. 1 to complicate things. I finally put Amelie higher, as she did get to a Slam final, and has so far accomplished more than Myskina and Kuzzie, including the No. 1 ranking.

I know Sharapova and Myskina so far have had similar careers, but I put a bit greater weight on Sharapova winning the YEC and also staying a no. 2 for more weeks. Also, a bit of bias, due to the "Celebrity factor".
