Darija Jurak is a 24 y.o. Croatian tennis player, winner of 8 ITF singles titles and 27 ITF doubles titles, one of which she won this year. Her favorite surface is clay and current year win/loss singles record is 15-10. Her career high ranking is 188 for singles and 108 for doubles, while her current singles ranking is 413, which is the highest she's been in almost 18 months. She reached two QF's on 25k this year.

This week she's playing in Bad Saulgau 25k, where she qualified for MD (just like last year) and drew 2nd seed and world's number 208 Tereza Hladikova (CZE) as her first opponent. Since she's defending QF from last year, a loss here could push her down some 30 places in the rankings, but let's hope for the best. She applied for doubles also, not defending anything, she and her partner play against top seeds in the first round. She's playing in Germany next week as well, on another 25k where she lost in R1 last year after going through qualies, but is defending finals of doubles.

Good luck Darija:wavey:

She qualified for Hechingen 25k! She beat Klaschka in 3 sets in the final qually round, to capture her first win over the German ever, after losing to her twice, both times in straight sets. Her draw could be better though, she'll play 3rd seed Martinovic in R1:rolleyes: On the bright side, they played 3 times before and Darija leads h2h 2:1. Another good thing is that both of her wins came on clay and in straight sets (one of them this season) cause Hechingen is played on clay. Martinovic won their only HC match and it was in 3 sets.

Good luck Darija:bounce:

Martinovic got her 1st claycourt win over Darija, it was 6:3 2:6 6:4:sad:

Well, at least she got off to a good start of the defence of her doubles finals here, with a 6:0 6:2 win in the first round (she's teamed up with Klaschka, they're 2nd seeds).

Good luck Darija:wavey:

Darija reached finals of doubles in Hechingen, repeating last year's result, but lost a close 3-setter:sad:

Congratulations anyway:worship:

This week she's playing Koksijde 10k in Belgium, where she's seeded 3rd in singles, but looks like she's not playing doubles (her first opponent is ranked 768). Not defending any points this time, but next week she's defending R2 of singles (after qualifying) and a title of doubles from Maribor 25k.

She dropped just 5 games in her 2 qualie matches, but plays 5th seed Kucova (ranked 252) in the 1st round, who won both of their previous matches. One was played in 2003 and the other last year, but both went to 3 sets. I think Darija is defending 5 points this week from last year's Maribor 25k, which is a 50k this year (she qualified there and won a round). She also won a doubles title there last year and she's 4th seed of doubles draw here in Netherlands.

Jurak/Lukic are steaming through doubles in Alphen a/d Rijn, already into semis with just 5 games lost. But their next opponents are 2nd seeds Kuzmina/Poltoratskaya. And unseeded Molinero/Tsurenko are already waiting in the finals.

Good luck:wavey:

After a 3 week rest Darija is back on courts in Podgorica 25k. She qualified beating compatriot Akiki along the way. In the 1st round she plays 7th seed Canadian Pelletier, world's #249 and a former #106.

She and Pastikova teamed up for doubles, they're 2nd seeds and have a bye in the opening round.

No points to defend in either singles or doubles until early November.

She won 3:6 6:1 6:4:bounce:

For a place in the quarters she'll play a wild card Burgic - just turned 16, played about a dozen singles tournaments, never went beyond QF of a 10k, currently ranked 1003, was as high as 939. In other words, anything except Darija winning would be a huge upset.

she won 6-3 6-1

In QF she'll play Vedy, currently #352, with a career high of 260. That seems winnable, unless Darija gets into trouble with Vedy being a lefty. They've never played eachother. With these points calculated Darija is already almost 50 places up, and it could be aditional 30 if she gets to semis!

Darija jumped over 50 ranking places this week after her Podgorica 25k points were added, to #435.

This week she's in action playing one 50k in France, and as the 8th seed of qualies she reached QR3. Along the way she beat Mohn (#845) and Baronova (unranked) to set up a clash with the 3rd seed Mraz (#375) whom she beat in their only previous match, 2 years ago. Mraz is close to her career high, so she's obviously in a good form, reaching semis on one Spanish 25k two weeks ago.

Even with just these 2 points Darija is guarateed to jump some 10 places on Monday, and with a MD spot she'd jump about 20 places.

She's also playing doubles, has a 1st round bye as the 4th seed.

Not defending any points here.

Good luck Darija:bounce:

She's into semis of doubles with an easy 6:2 6:1 win! That will rise her to about #250 in the rankings (from current 276) and she only has to defend one semi and one final on 25k's by the end of this year (one in November, the other in December)!
