From what I've heard, she does not plan on retiring at the moment, and is still motivated to fully come back this year.

I wish her the best for this new year, and I'll share here any news that I could come across.
Thank you so much for keeping us up to date... her fans are patiently awaiting her return.

I checked this thread fearing the worst, that she has retired... good to hear she's still motivated to come back.

I agree, she is better off being 100% before returning, she clearly wasn't right last year and must have only made her body worse by playing.

Aesthetically she is 'the' best player to watch on tour. She is a beautiful player with a beautiful game.

Re: Petra Cetkovska? Any news?

Hi guys,

Actually, some more bad news regarding Petra... She has faced some more difficulties during her rehab, and might have to postpone her come back a bit more. It sounds like she is still very much motivated to make it back eventually, though.

At this point, I think she should rather just make sure to be 100% before tempting her comeback (rather than rushing it and risking another injury), a few more weeks will not change anything for her anyways, in terms of points/ranking...

As always, I wish her a speedy recovery! As soon as I can share more news with you guys, I will obviously do so.

You're welcome

You're right, she's had some many issues throughout her career...such a pity, because her game is so enjoyable to watch. No need to mention that she is one of the most beautiful women out there too, of course

Re: Petra Cetkovska? Any news?

I was busy last night - work is eating into my life badly - so I didn't see the first set. But I did see the last point, and witnessed a dejected and nearly shattered-looking Petra take forever to get to her chair at the end of the set.

That last ^ photo breaks your heart, doesn't it?

Second set, yes I agree her forehand collapsed. Even her slice backhand floated off course a bit.

I watched her slowly walk off after the match, and when she turned right, away from the path everyone else took I could see she wanted to be alone.

Can totally relate to your story; I would have had similar thoughts and reactions. Best not to say anything. Hope you managed to smile at her at least.

One observation - if she's that dejected, we can at least put paid to the "just turning up for the cheques" stuff bandied about here earlier. If it hurts, the fire still burns.

Let's cling to that hope.

Re: Petra Cetkovska? Any news?

I saw the match. Petra was a break down from the beginning. We can say it was all about one point. Petra was serving when she was 4:5 and just rebroke Petterson who served for the set. Petra had the momentum, had 1 gamepoint and she tried a stopball. It flew a long time and hit the net cord. I closed my eyes. Petra needed the first set and she was later broken. During the match she said she needed a baseball field and that she was afraid to hit some kind of shot. I didn´t hear exactly which. In the first set she hit it long but in the second her forehand collapsed. She hit the net several times and was 0:4 down. Then she broke Petterson and had chances but couldn´t convert them.

She played on the same court like last year.I waited for the match in the shade near the players lounge and saw she went to warming up to the back-door corridor like last year. I didn´t dare to go there. It would be stalking. After the match I checked the courts and went to bathroom. Then I went to the centre court to watch Kližan. 99% visitors are using the main stairs. I used the back-door stairs and I saw Petra. She was devasted sitting on the ground. I tried to play it cool, I didn´t stare, she picked up the knee tapes next to her to clean my way. Of course I wanted to hug her.
