Bad luck here. But Kuznetsova retired in Prague, is she injured? But of course we also have to see why Siegemund retired in doubles today.
Sveta withdrew with an abdominal injury from her SF yesterday, not sure how serious it is, she did not look that great in Prague in general, so there is a chance for Laura but it obviously will be very tough if Sveta can play on a good level, not the best draw obviously, hope for a good match.

Re: Laura Siegemund

She just posted a photo on instagram 20 minutes ago where she is recovering for tomorrow's match so it's safe to say it's either Kasatkina who's injured or they both just showed up for the juicy 4,6k they each got for playing a few points.

Kasatkina and Laura retired in doubles at 1-2*

Hopefully nothing serious, not known yet if Laura or Kasatkina retired....

Re: Laura Siegemund

As expected.
Hopefully she gets a good MD spot.

Re: Laura Siegemund

Laura , easy qualifying for MD. H2H against Brengle is 3-0 now, first time she could beat her in two sets. And here she gets 30 ranking-points until now .

Re: Laura Siegemund

64 61 over Brengle

Easy win in general, Laura was ahead 4-0 in like 15min but after that she struggled, hit 5 DFs and Brengle was able to come back to 4-4 but then she was able to turn it around again and after that it was really easy again, no chance for Brengle in the 2nd set!

Two fast wins in Q, not too much energy wasted, now hopefully a good placement in the MD!!

Re: Laura Siegemund

Nice turnaround in the 2nd after 1-3.
I actually think Brengle could be a nice matchup for Laura. Although Brengle isn't really the offensive type of player, she hasn't the best movement. She wins a lot of matches because of her good anticipation.
If Laura makes her move and wrongfoots her a bit I see her winning this.

Re: Laura Siegemund

result was 62 63

Laura was down 0-3 in 2nd set and only won one point in those three games but afterwards she made 6 games in a row, not much trouble in general with Pliskova, good stats also!

Brengle next, H2h 2-0 for Laura but both players improved since their last meeting in 2014, good luck!!

Re: Laura Siegemund

Laura also plays doubles in Madrid, the first match for her is:

R1: Siegemund/Kasatkina vs. Zheng/Xu

In the second round she could probably face ALG.

Re: Laura Siegemund

The match last just 65 minutes and she could convert every break point . Good start into the tournament!

Re: Laura Siegemund

well, Kr.Pliskova could be a "perfect victim" on clay for Laura´s gamestyle, then again the Pliskova has a really powerful game and good serve, Laura has to try to get her into longer rallies first and move her around etc., hope that she is mentally and physically ready for Madrid, Brengle in FQR could be a tough and long match as well, good luck!

WTA Madrid Q

(1)Siegemund v Kr.Pliskova
Hercog v (9)Brengle

Kr.Pliskova isn't great on clay, I watched her match in Prague this week and she was moving pretty bad on that surface. But of course, let's see if Laura still has her form from Stuttgart.

Re: Laura Siegemund

Great for Laura. Wonder if she received a QWC into Madrid or entered, but weird that she is still in for Cagnes then, as she wouldn't have gotten any points for playing, once she got into Madrid, I believe.
Hopefully she can keep the momentum going, although it will be incredibly difficult.

Re: Laura Siegemund

Wise decision to pull out of Rabat. And even wise to skip the ITF-tournaments as well, it wouldn't have made much sense to go back to ITF's right now.
