Re: Fed Cup Romania

Not an easy match with Germany, but if Simona plays and the tie will be held on slow clay, i think we have better chances than we had against Czech. Hope will play on Arenele BNR in Bucharest.

Re: Fed Cup Romania

I don't think there is a big enough venue outside Bucharest or Cluj. Only if they do something with temporary stands like the belgians did last year on the beach in Oostende or like many others. Goes without saying I'd love them to come to Brasov. Otherwise it would be kinda cool if they go to Constanta... Simona can't possibly lose a match in her hometown

They said they'll try to play in as many different cities as possible. So far they played in Bucharest, Galati and Cluj, while the boys also moved around for the Davis Cup matches. We'll see if they find another adequate venue somewhere or they'll chose again Bucharest or Cluj.
But there's not a comparable demand for the guys. Arenas with up to 2000 places would do while for the girls, of course they'll look to be at least 4-5000 seats at least.

I would like to think that there's a chance for the Olympic ice rink from Brasov but given its construction "issues" , I doubt it a little. Though Brasov's name was thrown in the Galati period by the officials, stating it was one of the cities from which they had to choose (the main choice actually) , so things mustn't have worked out .

Bucharest, Arenele BNR where ATP & WTA tourneys are held (biggest chances) , Cluj-Napoca (biggest capacity for spectators), Craiova, Brasov, Galati etc. . When it's settled, you'll know. 99% on Clay of course (outdoors or indoors) .

So it's Romania vs Germany in Romania! Not that bad With Simo,Irina,Monica and Alexandra healthy and in good shape, I think we can beat Germany!

Maybe Sorana will also be on the wave

Re: Fed Cup Romania

Sad for Romania
Niculescu should have played doubles

Czech Republic is simply such a strong team
(Kvitova, Safarova, Pliskova + a very strong doubles)
This time Karolina was the hero, she won all her 3 matches

Well, it's better than an away tie in USA or a tie in Spain . Thanks Fed Cup .

Re: Fed Cup Romania

Cosac George, president of the Romanian Tennis Federation, made a disclosure:

Before the match against Kvitova I went into the locker room. She could not walk (referring to Simona). He sent someone to buy sports shoes with a higher number to put bandages on fingers. 90% of athletes would not have entered the field in such conditions. She wants to play well and win for Romania. After the first match she cried all night.
