Re: Taylor Townsend Thread

Something needs to change. Taylor, I hope you read this.

Taylor vs Ar. Rodionova ...
Taylor's game is a mess from what it was 2 years ago.
At least her serve and ground strokes had some power.
I don't know what her new coach is doing but there are up to no good, tennis-wise.

Now she is all spin, slice and moon balls. Even when she hits an out-wide serve to open up the court, she moonballs the next ball or dumps it in the net. Her returns lacks purpose. She just scoops the ball up and whatever. She barely gets off the ground to serve.
And her ground stroke motion? it's all arms and no coil. The body is still straight up, barely bending. It's no surprise she resorts to moon balling and slicing a lot of times.

And for a player that says 'volley' is her game, she is pretty bad at the net. She'll dump at the bottom of the net most balls, when moving at the net. Gavrilova would make 95% of those shots. Taylor can barely make 10%. Her drop volley is only decent in Doubles, when she is standing and waiting at the net.

How many overheads go straight at the bottom of the net? I couldn't keep watching that disaster. I quit in the middle of that 2nd set. It's the same game I saw a couple of days ago.
Girls needs a new coach as soon as possible. She is capable of playing top level tennis. What she is doing now is not even top-200. Coco or Svitolina would serve her two hot bagels with that game of hers.
2 years ago Taylor would have won this match in 2 straight sets with no sweat.

Re: Taylor Townsend Thread

Taylor looked good in dismissing Jamie Loeb in 3 sets at the Burnie ITF 60k event in Tasmania, Australia. lst time Taylor has defeated Jamie in 4 tries in a very competitive match. She's now into the qtrs of such event, playing O. Rogowska. Was hoping that Destanee Aiava would continue in her match with a hoped-for meeting with Taylor in the semis. However, Destanee lost to Ar. Rodionova in the 2nd rd. And, yes, Taylor has lost some weight but not enough for me as a fan. Yet, it's a beginning and we'll see as the season unfolds whether she'll continue the reduction. But, her all-court game is as beautiful as always to witness.

Taylor fell to Jennifer, 62 46 36.

Started out well, but then Jennifer stepped it up and started hitting to Taylor's backhand. Still, this has to considered a good outing for Taylor.

Wins 60 76(2)!

I wasn't really impressed with her form in this match though; lots of UFEs coming from both players. Hopefully she'll pick it up.

Taylor staved off Anna, 62 46 63

Jamie Loeb for the q-spot. Taylor is 0-2 against her, so there's some work to do.
