Maybe an Intl will be good for her. She needs to close out sets, and not just 60, 61 where her opponent is awful. She needs to hold at 5-4 and 5-3 and 5-5

Playing Double will help her alot with her being more comfortable moving and finish off volley, over head shot That she seem too miss or can't put away. I mean look at how well Jelena has gotten at the net compare too the yr she first came out.

I dont see how doubles will help. She has to improve her groundstrokes. If you just watch her service games at 5-5, then 5-3 in set 2 and 5-5 set 2, her errors off the ground early in points put her tough situations. And she was double faulting.
She cant start rallies by hitting long or wide or in the net in big games. Its choking, playing the big games poorly. She didnt even force Li to play well in those key games. Like 4-5 against Giorgi in set 2 in NY.
Caro breaks her own serve with bad errors early in points.

Getting Caro to play doubles is mission impossible...she seems allergic to it. I understand it can be a pain to schedule but she doesn't have to play all tournaments, just a few here and there. Anyway, it ain't happening.

Anyone knows when Monterrey's draw comes out? I imagine it will be Saturday or Sunday. I think she will be seed 3 right?

, and cant hold serve when she needs to.
But now her backhand is weak also. Too many errors, even when she's just hitting moderate pace up the middle. She cant hit a backhand up the line anymore, even when the shot is wide open.
She needs to grind on the practice court and try to get better off the ground.
Trying to come to net is a disaster. She had 2 overheads and lost both points.
First set one winner, 14 errors, and Li just gave about 20 points with wild shots that set.

This level isnt winning an Intl, and she shouldnt be happy because Li made errors and Caro won some games.

She has to be able to be aggressive at times with her backhand. She has to be able to rally without unforced errors or soft short balls so early in the point.

Before the match I just wanted to see a decent level of play.
I say I did not see anything close to what I hoped for.
All the things you just said she was trying too do for the last two years, trying be more aggressive but in return she hit more winners but also made more errors & most ppl here thought she lost her core game which was grinder down her opponents & getting errors out her opponents when she started too try too be more aggressive, too me her Serve, Volley, & FH can improve but I still think an new coach is going have too step in an do that but caro don't want that sadly. I hoping she work with the Adidas coaches through out the yr & at least change her mind at some point about getting an new coach, Also I always said she should be playing double too help improve her net at the net with her volleys, Lindsay Davenport have also said that many times.

Yeah, this was like the Giorgi match, where you can see she is trying hard, but the level of play is too weak.
I dont think its a motivation problem. She gave her all, ran after a lot of balls, tried hard to extend rallies. Her game has gotten worse and its hard for Caroline to have consistent good rallies. (She might have given up near the end, thats another thing she can improve)
Li made 32 errors in set 1, that's 8 full games! When Shvedova bageled Errani the whole set was 24 points. Li made 32 errors in one set and won it!
This is her level of play and its why her only title since 2012 is an Intl.
I dont see an answer except to work hard on her groundstrokes and hope over time she can hit backhands crosscourt and down the line. If she cant rally deep with her forehand and hit good backhands to all parts of the court, she has no other way to win the matches. Unless her opponents cant put the ball in play

I doubt she'll withdraw. It's been a long time since she withdrew from a tournament when Piotr was her coach.

Well, Wozniacki herself isn't a top player anymore. She's 'just' a good player and she won't morph into a top player again in the space of a week. If she wants to get back to where she was it won't happen overnight but will take a lot of time and effort. But by comparison to the IW disaster this has been a good week for her. Now win some matches on the red stuff - not tournaments, just matches and we're on the right track. Baby steps are ok, as long as they are baby steps in the right direction.

But ithink Li Na tonight had a bit fear in her eyes, she don't think it was a easy match to win...
