Re: Lucie Safarova Cheering Thread - Volume 2

Lucie lost 4-6 6-7 in R4 to Coco

A good match from Lucie, but sadly once again not mentally strong enough
Mentally really is her biggest weakness. The game is there

Lucie was so close to complete the QF Grand Slam. She will never reach US Open QF

It was a good quality match
Both powerful players, great groundstrokes, strong serves
Both Lucie and Coco are very talented. Both could be Top 10 players

Coco was the mentally stronger player at end of both sets
She has improved a lot. On many levels. Also much more consistent
Coco said before this match she likes playing lefties

And a nice hug at the net

BTW who was this good-looking man in Lucie's box (2nd row on the right) ?
Maybe Lucie's American boyfriend ?

Well played Lucie and Babs
A bit too close that it needed to be - not sure what happened in set 2, some huge UE and placement errors but they did it. On to the semi

After I jinxed the shit out of her maybe a rain delay is a good thing.

I'm sorry.

Totally want Lucie or the Chipmunk to win the doubles.

Lucie played her first 3 rounds in parking lots/unstreamed courts and will be on Arthur Ashe for the 4th, and against an American I hope she'll handle that pressure well
Come on Lucie you can do it

CoCo was so obnoxious last round, Lucie losing to her tomorrow would be unbearable

Anyway, her draw is opening up nicely.
I always watch/tweet about her matches when I can...I am just very busy these days and don't have so much time to come on here...always supporting though

Lucie destroyed/exposed Nara 6-3 6-2 !

Well done, Lucie ! Nara had zero chance. Lucie is sooo much more talented

She was smiling so much after the match point

I'm still pissed off about that that's really disrespectful to her and her ranking.

Yes this really should have been closed in 2 sets, why does she always do that
I agree about Hibino, she played pretty badly in the 1st and I thought it was going to be a cakewalk but she stepped it up in the 2nd, hit some nice winners and made fewer errors (while Lucie did the opposite ).
Glad Lucie came through in the 3rd
Also an easy win in doubles R1

Lucie into US Open R3 !

R1: Lucie def. Kontaveit 6-7 6-1 6-4
R2: Lucie def. Hibino 6-1 3-6 6-2

2 tough 3-set-matches against Kontaveit and Hibino. But Lucie won

Kontaveit was a difficult R1 draw (also for Anett). A shame there was no stream

R2 stats
10 Aces, 2 DFs
Lucie: 38 Winners, 29 UEs
Hibino: 20 Winners, 20 UEs

Nara had a good win against Kuz, so Lucie should NOT underestimate her
Lucie must serve and move well, play aggressive tennis, be focused, only few UEs
She cannot afford to play passive/tentative, she must take control and make Nara move, play angles, also high balls and high kick serves to small Nara

Normally Lucie really should win this match against Nara. A lucky R3 draw
Then would wait Aga or Coco ! And the funny thing is that nobody of them have ever reached the QF at US Open Aga is waiting forever for this QF. Lucie too. A BIG chance for Lucie/Aga/Coco to reach their first US Open QF !
