im happy that im not the only one feels that way
and i mean at some points timi played better than halep, or more entertaining, per se, to spare timi to being called a pusher but that's just my opinion

Re: Timea Bacsinszky

i did some calculation since im bored

timi's clay season in points

2015
Marrakech QF + Madrid R1 + Rome R3 + RG SF = 60 + 10 + 105 + 780 = 955

2016
Rabat W + Madrid R3 + Rome QF + RG QF + Gstaad SF = 280 + 120 + 190 + 430 + 110 = 1130

2017
Rabat R2 + Madrid R2 + Rome R3 + RG SF = 30 + 65 + 105 + 780 = 980
Gstaad still coming

My opinion is that the serve was the biggest problem today. The FH is a given and she did quite well with slices and drops but the serve could have been a lot better than today. That way she would have had more choice in her shot selection and wouldn't give Jelena so many chances to keep her locked on that FH side.
everything wasn't at 100% i feel. BH had errors; FH too. serve in particular, obviously, even though timi did have a second serve ace

Very true, she is back on the right course with Rome and RG and she could potentially do well again in China like before. Nothing to be ashamed of this tournament.
the 2015 china open run was kind of jaw-dropping result but it pushed herself into top 10, a big milestone in a player's career. when she was giving the runner-up speech that time there was a spectator crying so hard and i was almost like that person lol
was very sad how that season ended with a huge injury though but just like timi's tote bag says c'est la vie right i think everything happened for a reason: she kind of saving her rank with a big run every once a while since last year like the SF in Miami, good clay season in general last year and fought that #8 seed to RG;
also her olympic ride was a crazy too never would of thought she'd get to the final even in doubles, but the R1 exit in singles might of helped a bit too. it's not a remarkable as puig's gold medal story obviously, but im sure timi valued that medal very much when she look back in her career

Haha, yeah it can happen to all of us after a hard pill to swallow. Most of the time I can predict exactly what people are gonna say, always the same clichés. My rule is, only react when you have a great answer, just let it slide otherwise. And if a person does it many times: bad rep.
of course people can have their opinion on anything, but i assume TFer will have at least a little better aspect of seeing how the game played out. timi had handful shot selections on her FH side, which is totally different from most defensive players. im not even dissing defensive players, wozniacki for example was once #1 for a reason: different playing style works too. however there are fans that only watch their fave playing (espeically ballstrikers) just assume everyone else who doesnt hit the ball as hard as their faves a pusher, basic et cetera some have like 10k+ posts, pretty sure they have watched tennis for years, and yet they watch tennis like they only know 3 players from the tour

I was holding my breath as well when I saw it but it didn't seem to hinder her that much. It was NID though some idiot would bring it up on the forum as being a 'fake' MTO.

the match was quite messy at times, but it's because jelena was SO aggressive. there isn't much timi can do about it, esp when the stat brought up that Jelena's forehand hits harder than murray in contrast to timea, of course, not her forte. it's sort of the situation like timi herself said "her forehand is not on fire today". winners:UE are still positive, so cant really say it's a bad match imo.

finally this RG is lot more than i've ever expected from timi's first half of the season. worried before the draw if she'll even be seeded; if she will get a tough R3 or even dangerous R1 seeding 30; not able to beat pome (luckily that part of the draw collapsed); weather wasn't helping timi and venus will beat her this time; unable to handle the french crowed and lost to kiki... she got through all of those. im really proud of her.
and all of that would matter, had she lost before QF, timi's definitely losing the seed rank in wimbledon, but she did defend the QF points and even add more points getting back into around #22~#23. on paper the second half of the year timi tended not having super strong result, but hopefully she'll have improvements here and there given that she literally dont have much to defend over the season, just 100s here and there every other month

p.s. i did a silly move and had a go in the result thread in GM, big mistake as always unsurprisingly that kiki-obsessed french user and a few others attacking her forehand and tactical MTO

Re: Timea Bacsinszky

(trying to build a better player thread)

Timi's schedule in the grass season with 1 warm up event: Eastbourne & Wimbledon

and of course Gstaad (clay), right after wimbledon

Re: Timea Bacsinszky

p.p.s. i just checked that timi is 16th at the race (22th at live ranking)

i didnt expect she's so up there, given that she barely played a tournament per month before clay started.
given the little events she'd played, hopefully she'd play more in the latter of the season, and given that the nature of the tour when other players tend to have lighter schedule.

Re: Timea Bacsinszky

im not even that sad to be honest. slightly, yes, of course. it's not like timi had 0% winning this, but it wasn't big. i just feel very gutted she got injured in the first set. hope it's nothing major... season is only half way and she already had like 3 or 4 injuries at different parts of her body i almost assumed she will retire or second set bagel after the first set or anytime in second set but jelena just spraying errors gifting the second set out.. surprising but slightly sad that there were chances in final set but couldnt take on it while jelena was surprisingly clutch towards the finish line.
