Re: Garbiñe Muguruza

I doubt Garbine would match fix, but her attitude when things are not going her way is worrying.

Re: Garbiñe Muguruza

Did anyone see or read the text of her post match press conference? I don't think her foot can explain a totally lackladaiscal attitude from the first point to the match. This was a GRAND SLAM chrissakes, not Baku. Her whole performance was disturbing and I wonder with all the talk of fixing, if the authorities aren't looking behind the scenes at this whole thing.

Conchita is not the only one pissed. Alex Corretja has been very critical too with Garbi's attitude.

Garbine was just off the entire match. Disappointing end to her AO.

Terrible footwork due to her injury + a v. poor attitude = this horrific match. She should have just retired. I'm very disappointed in Garbi. Conchita looked pissed.

Me too.

What was wrong today ? there was no fight, no energy. Never attempted to get back into the match. She looked gone. I don't know if it is the injury or if she just panicked under the pressure. It was such a disaster it's difficult to figure out what was going on.

That was the worst I have seen Garbine play for a very long time.

Absolutely disastrous and lackluster performance!

Re: Garbiñe Muguruza

so much to improve on her footwork
BZS is really killing her with that fast-pace tennis

Garbi

You could see today that Garbi doesn’t feel comfortable with this kind of opponent that displays such a variable style of play. So I am glad she got the job done without too much fuss.

Good luck against Strycova!

Re: Garbiñe Muguruza

She played amazing in that final. No way she was just average. She reached a slam winning form imo. Great tennis from her which reminded me of 2012 Vika. Anyway, Vika and Garbi never met before so it's hard to predict what would happen in such match-up but based on their form atm, Vika is the fav to win imo. She is fit and EXTREMELY confident atm. Garbi would need her best tennis to have a real chance of winning if Vika shows her A game. All in all, I think it would be 60-40 in Vika's favour but you never know what's gonna happen. Let's hope she beats BZS first.

Good first 2 rounds wins though, considering the foot injury and the rustiness, but from now on she's going to have to step it up another notch. BZS will be dangerous, and playing at this level I don't see her beating Vika.
I havent watched Vika since Brisbane Final (which i think was average-ish). Mugu was excellent in R1 (bar her second serve, but this may also due the fact that the estonian was a very agressive returner, much more than Vika, IMO). The belarussian will surely exploit poor footwork of Garbine, but as long as Garbine can find her range, she make it.

But one match at a time. BZS has always been a pain in ass for power player (Li Na lost her last match to her, Maria last year Wuhan iirc). If Garbine can solve BZS's riddle, im confident for that blockbuster R16 encounter vs Vika.

Re: Garbiñe Muguruza

Convincing enough for Garbine. She did what she needed to and had no real issues even when her opponent started growing into the match.

As mentioned above, her draw is now easier because of Garcia and Lucic going out. Hopefully someone upsets Vika
