Re: Dayana Yastremska

Another very tough loss from 6-2 *5-2

Dayana was playing well up to that point, dictating play and keeping the errors under control. But when she served for the match she became tense and her shots lost a lot of their bite (and depth). Since she was up a double break I still thought she'd be able to get the job done, but she started spraying UEs left and right, and that sloppy play carried over into the third set (fatigue was probably a factor). Cepelova was a bit more proactive in the decider, but Dayana really should have won in straight sets.

She also had a bit of a health scare in that final set. I went away for about ten minutes, and when I came back she was sitting down and being examined by a doctor. She looked distressed and was holding her hand to her chest, as if suffering from angina or heart arrythmia. It was probably some kind of muscular spasm (or just anxiety), because the doctor allowed her to keep playing and she seemed okay after that.

A missed opportunity to make the SF, but her potential is obvious.

There are so many things wrong with the new website, it's hard to know where to start - IMO the redesign is a failure on just about every level. Not only are there tons of missing content, but what little is left is very badly presented (like the outrageously poorly thought-out new "Scores" section). Like many people, I have become quite cynical about the WTA's ability to get these things right, but they really outdid themselves here. I get the distinct impression that the people who did the job (apparently a "digital marketing and content company" known as The Social Channel) know very little about tennis - but then again, the fact that the project was green-lighted by the WTA corporate suits despite being fundamentally flawed just underlines the gross incompetence of Steve Simon and co. The site was launched almost 4 months late but still feels rushed (probably to coincide with Sharapova's return ) and amateurish. It's hard to be optimistic about the quality of the upcoming WTA streaming service after seeing this - it's probably going to be vastly inferior to TennisTV. This is a very sad situation - the fans (and the players) deserve better.

My heart melts for players who it the ball flat like a pancake, like Lena or Amanda (Amanda's angles on the run are just ), I can help it even though I'm fully aware this is definitely not the most sustainable gamestyle if you want to win big
