Great if I practice it a lot. When I'm out of form it's atrocious. DFing whole games etc

Re: How good is your serve?

My first serve is very flat, so when I get it to click I'll go through streaks where I'm making most of my first serves and getting a bunch of unreturned, often for like three games in a row. If it's not warmed up yet though or if I lose focus it doesn't go in. My second serve has very little strategy. I can get a bit of spin on it, but I basically just try to get it in without completely sitting up because I've had the yips on it in the past. It's pretty consistent now, but every now and again I'll have an off day and hit like six-eight double faults a set. My toss is very bad. Often I just can't get it right at the start of matches and many of my missed serves are the result of shitty tosses.

Re: How good is your serve?

My perfect day was when I served 10 aces, and 1 DF... And I beat that friend 6-2 6-0... He said that after 2-1 in first set for him I demoralized him with my perfect first and second serve... xD

Look, I often shot my second down the T, but it is really slow... My friend often steps in and returns very well, sometimes I use my running skills, but it is difficult to push back... So, if the first serve is good, I haven't problem, and if I get a rhythm, it's easier to place second serve in the right place. But, I remembered when I had 5-3 in fifth set against one friend, that I've never beat him... xD And on 5-3 for me, I miss all first serves, and I made 2 DFs, and other 2 were low, and that friend used slice. :O He know that I must get down to hit this holy shit, and I was trying to return back, which is very difficult... Can someone tell me what should I do to improve my second serve and what about their returns? Any types?

Do many people serve and volley because I love it when they do because I love to pass them

Re: How good is your serve?

1 ace, around 3 service winners, and 4 doubles. it's definitely coming along and I can't wait to serve and volley this season

Second is still slow and attackable but not nearly as bad as when I literally lollipopped it over 3 years ago

Re: How good is your serve?

I need rhythm, that's key. Once i've got that, it's pretty decent. If not, I can serve tons of double faults So quite inconsistent. I also find it hard to put off pace with the 2nd serve without screwing up my technique.

Re: How good is your serve?

My second serve was rubbish until I developed a good kicker. It takes a bit of practice but once you get it grooved, you have a high-percentage serve that is very difficult for the returner to punish.

IMO a decent kicker is essential to a good serving game.

Re: How good is your serve?

I just spin my 2nd serve in like a 12 year old But mainly only because my friend I play with either doesn't want to come into the baseline and smack a winner (because he knows our match would be over within 30 minutes) or doesn't realize that he should step in to smack it... I'm thinking the former, so I won't complain

First serve can be okay but it isn't anything special. I don't ever get aces, rarely any service winners, don't usually get good angle outside on it, but can luck into some nice down the T serves.

It's quite poor in pressure situations. I mishit a lot of second serves when the pressure is high

flareon Everyone here seems to say there second serve is a disaster ok I am not saying mine I great but what do you guys do miss it long or in the net, I either kick it which is working well or hit a first serve again none of this stupid spinny stuff, next time you guys play matches seriously just go for it if you miss it long it's more positive than it going in the net, I would rather miss it long than have it pounded back at me harder...
