Got changed this year, they top 2 contenders are drawn randomly if there's a vacancy known during Qualifying to prevent tanking.

Re: Laura Siegemund

Well done Laura

If it's Kozlova next round it'll be very tough. Zanevska shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Laura Siegemund

Siegemund def. Martincova 62 36 63

No breaks in 1st set against Siegemund, after that it was a real breakfestival, especially in 3rd set but nothing unusual for Laura
Good win, Kozlova/Zanevska next, I expect Kozlova and that won´t be an easy match for Laura for sure.

Re: Laura Siegemund

Martincova is very streaky, it will either be 6-1 6-1 for Laura or some kind of 2 hour shitfest.

Solid
Next round will probably the most difficult match.

Re: Laura Siegemund

won her first match 6/4 6/1, pretty easy, lost her serve twice, that´s OK, next match will probably be more difficult!

I have no idea how I missed her on the St Petersburg list. Good luck

Re: Laura Siegemund

Her section:

(1) Siegemund vs. Komardina
Martincova vs. Krejcikova
Dushevina vs. Kozlova
(WC) Detiuc vs. Zanevska (7)

Good luck, we´ll see if she can qualify...

Re: Laura Siegemund

Siegemund ist in der Quali von St. Petersburg an (1) gesetzt.

Erste Qualirunde gegen Komardina. Danach wird es etwas schwerer mit Martincova/Krejcikova. In Runde 3 sehr wahrscheinlich Kozlova/Zanewska.

Re: Laura Siegemund

Kreuzlingen is like a second home to Laura. She has represented them in Swiss Interclubs for the past three years and gets paid good money for it, so I guess she wants to play there.

Re: Laura Siegemund

I've been trying to figure out her schedule for the next few weeks and it's confused the hell out of me

Week of 15 FEB- 25k Altenkirchen (IC)
Week of 22 FEB - (Presumably) 50k Kreuzlingen (IC)
Week of 29 FEB - WTA Kuala Lumpur
Week of March 9 - (Hopefully) Indian Wells

I kinda expected her to cherish her new ranking and go for Dubai/Doha and if not that, go to Rio where she could be a favorite for the title.
Instead, she plays ITFs on her worst surface as world #88. One could say that she wants to stay close to home which is something she has always done, but then she is travelling all the way to Kuala Lumpur for just one tournament. I really hope this doesn't mean that she won't play IW/Miami.

Also, I hope she has the Olympics on her mind. It's a very long shot, but she will have so many tournaments on clay where she can gain points and even she can't know what her limit is with how fast she has been rising over the last year.
