Agreed. Plus, I think her willingness to go back to the drawing board and play 10k's is an encouraging sign that she's in this for the long run. I don't expect an easy road back to Slam qualifying rank-level in singles. For now I'll take the fact she's doing this the right way and slowly improving her fitness as a big step in the right direction. Hopefully this keeps up for next season. Definitely has the game to get back to her former ranking

Re: Bogdan Elena

Her whole year was an absolute mess. One horrible loss after the other

Elena is a former #151 (2011) ! And at the moment she is only ranked #773

BTW she looks not fit at all Elena should look to Kerber and work hard on fitness

Nightcrawl3r Well, I guess you weren't hoping for her to slay in a $100k+H tournament, where she got a QWC to slay out of nowhere, were you ?

Anyway, doubles should be the focus now :

E. Bogdan/Eraydin (ROU/TUR) v Hsieh/Savinykh (TPE/RUS)
(3)Krunic/Voskoboeva (SRB/KAZ) v Burger/Lemoine (NED/NED)
Sharipova/Vasylyeva (UZB/UKR) v Dinu/Majeric (ROU/SLO)
(2)Dzalamidze/Kudermetova (RUS/RUS) v Lister/Moore

Re: Bogdan Elena

Elena is a walking bye right now

And I was so stupid to think she could be Top 30
(I saw her in Romanian indoor championships years ago and was impressed)

In the qualies of the 100KH Dubai with a WC. Plays Tena Lukas first round. Elena is 0:1 against her, but this is their first meeting on hardcourt.

Re: Bogdan Elena

Ema finished the year winning her biggest title of the year (Saguenay 50k - with Buzarnescu) and a 10k in her last tournament (10k Solarino - with Jegiolka). In singles she continues to struggle tho Definitely not a good year for her, finishes with her worse year end rankings since 2008 in singles (#774) and 2009 in doubles (#212).

Re: Bogdan Elena

Lost badly to Radanovic who really was peaking this week tho. Still made a good result in dubs, reaching the final with Irina Bara
She totally freaked Irina out after they won the MP 10-8 in the MTB to win the SF:

$25.000 Hodmezovasarhely (HUN)
R16: Dejana Radanovic (SRB) d. (Q)Elena Bogdan (ROU) 62 60

WF QF: (2)Bara/Bogdan (ROU/ROU) d. Njuki/Szupper (SWE/AUT) 63 64
WD SF: (2)Bara/Bogdan (ROU/ROU) d. Jorovic/Kalinina (SRB/UKR) 63 67(11) 10-8
WD F: (1)Perrin/Skamlova (SUI/SVK) d. (2)Bara/Bogdan (ROU/ROU) 64 62

Re: Bogdan Elena

Well, her days as a doubles specialist are (sadly?) over. After Monterrey she played two more WTA dubs events, Katowice (w. Mitu) and Istanbul (w. Dinu)... after which she basically restarted her singles career playing 10k's in like Galati, Foscani etc. Currently her ranking is 831.

This is basically her best result so far. Hopefully she can also beat Radanovic as well

Btw. watched some of the match today, she's looking a bit fitter than in the past and ofc you can see the quality in her shots. Also nice handshake at the net after the match:

Re: Bogdan Elena

thought Ema's reaction at the end of the match was cute. All excited about the win, proceeds to do the usual kiss on both cheeks with Golubic before they even get to net. Viktoria looked slightly confused by the outburst of affection -and by the fact the win meant that much.

Re: Bogdan Elena

Seems to have set up a partnership with Viki Golubic. They played last week together in Acapulco (losing in the first round) and now also in Monterrey. Watched a bit of her match yesterday and Ema was uncharacteristically solid... really, really good match for her

Abierto Monterrey Afirme
Doubles Draw

E.Bogdan/Golubic d. Aoyama/Ninomiya 46 61 10-6

Re: Bogdan Elena

Lost today but there was a big big choke in the 1st set. . *5-1 + set point and another 2 SPs at 5-4* but they lost it 5-7 and then 2-6 the next one

Edit : Lost in Rio WTA in R1 alongside Buzarnescu after having 3 MPs ..
