Oh, memories. Finland is one of those things that seems a lot smaller when you're an adult.

Every year we would go to visit my grandparents in the Texas panhandle (the Norrland of Texas only hellishly hot), and every year the rear tires on the car would overheat (because my parents overloaded the car with enough crap to last through a Norrland winter) and we'd have a blowout. The annual limp to Idalou and hope they had the right kind of tire was always fun.

Never had to wait 11 days though. I think the longest wait was four hours for a new tire to come in from the big city (i.e. Lubbock) to the gas station in Idalou.

These days, of course, the gas station is probably self-serve. But the tires are radials, so they might not explode as readily.

In Norrland they are, yes.

This car was out in the Norrland winter for three minutes and look what happened. This is why there are no cars and no auto parts in Norrland's auto parts facilities.

Only reindeer and bad-tempered tennis players can survive in the arctic conditions.

Also, this kind of "building surface" is pretty common in the Arctic. Because… I guess it's useful. Not being a construction engineer I don't really know what I'm talking about.

But why the heck they use it in the tropical end of Sweden… dunno!?

Re: Johanna-Jenny Larsson

The "Halle" looks like a auto parts warehouse* with seating for about 25, although by Norrland standards it is very large and luxurious and may even have electricity.

*Trust me, I've been spending way too much time in auto parts facilities these days.

Although from the looks of it, this is a relic from Norrland's failed bid to host the 1965 Winter Olympics.

(Right away, I think you can spot at least two reasons why their bid failed).
1965 was not an Olympic year. What was the other reason?

I can see my pics just fine.

Yes, I noticed the JoLa hat. It looks homemade.

Of course, it's probably a good idea. Losing your winter hat in Norrland could be fatal, so putting your name on it is probably a wise precaution.
