Re: The Juniors

Thankfully Natasha SENGPHRACHANH was allowed to bypass qualies after her title yesterday, to enter directly Main Draw at a G4 in Thailand.

If she makes it to the 2nd round, it would be a big test against seed #1 ranked 155. Good Luck

Re: The Juniors

Congrats to the very tall 15yo Natasha SENGPHRACHANH who won her first Junior event today. It's only her 4th junior tournament. Perhaps school duty made her miss lots of tennis but she seems dedicated to play a lot this summer. I know it's only G4 and G5 she's playing yet, however she will surely be a contender to win G2 events in no time.

Look at those numbers.
This week she played and won 8 matches without losing a set, won 97 games, lost only 28.
This year she won 17 matches, lost 2. Served 17 bagels and 5 breadsticks.

Last month in Plantation she gave a good fight but lost in 3 sets to the #2 seed who went on to win the G4 title being ranked 168th

With the 30 points earned, Natasha's ranking will roughly improve from 1700th to 1000th, but her true level is probably around 200 at this point I guess.

They are the Doubles #1 seed
Although, Branstine playing poorly lateley could prove problematic. Or will it help her get back on track?

Re: The Juniors

Good Luck to Bianca and Carson. To BianCarson AndreeStine as well

Regarding Natasha SENGPHRACHANH, it looks like she's residing in Thailand these days. She's trying to enter 2 events there in June, but her ranking puts her out of qualies, or barely in with a bit of luck. I believe she's worth at least Top200 actually, but she hasn't played enough to be ranked where she should be.

Re: The Juniors

Layne Sleeth is the only Canadian at the Grade A Trofeo Bonfiglio

Bianca would have played but withdrew since she will be busy at the RG qualies this coming week. It's not great though to play RG without a warmup event. She hasn't played a match since Fed Cup one month ago

Why is Branstine not in Italy? She would have been seed #4.
I wonder if it's a question of money. Branstine is definitely not traveling as much as Sleeth who's parents are wealthy.

Re: The Juniors

OK guys,
It's time to keep an eye on the very tall 15yo Natasha SENGPHRACHANH

She is playing at a G4 now because it's only her 3rd ITF Junior event. But she won almost everything inside the Tennis Canada ranking tournaments in the past 12 to 18 months.

She won 3 matches this week in Plantation by double bageling her 3 opponents
Watch out for her jr. ITF.
Round 3 next against seed #2.

Re: The Juniors

Great fight from 15yo Leylah Annie Fernandez in $25,000 Naples
She lost like Charlotte in the last round of qualies, but hey, Leylah was playing against a very good young player, Michaela Gordon who is 3 years older.
6-7(2) 6-0 3-6

I'm pretty sure Leylah has a good future in tennis ahead of her.

Melodie Collard, Rachel Kryzak and Leena Benetto will be representing Canada at the U14 World Championships regional qualifying. Team captain is Dean Coburn (Zhao's and Robillard-Milette's coach.

Good luck girls!
