Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

A little late to the party but what a fantastic fortnight this has been for Kaia. From winning a 15k in Pšrnu straight to the QFs of a slam. I had no idea how serious her comeback was and where she was heading and then she comes up with this run.
I had the Chance to watch both her matches in Roehampton so that gave me some hope but I wasn't expecting something like this.

I really wonder where she will Play next. Has obviously withdrawn from Santa Margherita di Pula and St. Petersburg. Could possibly enter qualifying in Linz and Moscow/Luxembourg.

kaiafan Yeah Brisbane sounds really cute and she likes playing there

Meanwhile, looking at the scoreline of Keys-Coco, it doesn't make Kaia's performance look worse at all I didn't watch the match but Vandeweghe is another huge server, so?

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

I know it will be too late to earn points for the AO MD spot but it would be cute if Brisbane gave her an MD WC. Not commercially super-wise, but cute

Kaia

She must have been tired after so many matches (overall 8 US Open matches)

But great tournament, and I'm looking forward to see the new ranking on Monday !

Awesome tournament comes to an end

It is unbelievable that only last week she was ranked in 400s, in the entry lists for 25K qualifying. Next week she will be ranked 300 places higher, she has a great chance to make direct entry to AO MD and has a good enough ranking for WTA Qs

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

I read that she'll compete in October and November. If she's willing to go to Asia, maybe some tournament will give her a WC (either MD or Q.. like Seoul?). Otherwise Moscow? Luxembourg? Linz?

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

She said that she would like to play some WTA events if possible.

50 additional points would make it safe but she might not even need so many. She already has 553, Anett eventually qualified for direct entry this year with 556.

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Looking at her current live ranking I wonder what are her options for collecting those roughly 50pts she would need to get directly into the main draw of Australian Open.
That is if she can even be arsed to travel that far. She is an alternate for Tokyo, but its unlikely she'll get to play there right? Has anyone heard of her plans beyond the US Open?

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Too many matches i guess. Looked dire/spent. Serving looked the most obvious weak spot compared to Keys. Madison also benefitted from playing 3rd match in a row on Ashe so she was much more familiar with how it plays.

Amazing tournament from Kaia. May she stay healthy and maybe she can get back close to her peak levels.

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Kaia lost 63 63

I woke up and just saw the 2nd set after Keys 1*-0. Kaia was behind all the time, not just score wise, but it also felt so in the match, and she barely won points on Keys' serve. I still had hoped she'd come over the QF hurdle

It was a fantastic tournament for Kaia and us to follow. I personally thought she'd lose to Chirico in q, but Kaia made the qf! And she's close to top 100 now meaning she'll be able to enter some WTA q on her own plus the $Ä$Ä to fund herself

kaiafan Imagine if Kaia ruins USA's dream all-American SFs lineup. Sounds quite impossible yet so fun Happily it is no later that 2 a.m., less than an hour for the match to start. I can't wait too long

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Kaia-Madison starting at 12PM local time would have been so much more convinient for us Europeans. Maybe Pliskova or CoCo asked to be playing earlier

I hope Kaia won't be too nervous and gives her best (meaning she won't be blown off the court/hitting herself off the court with UEs in a hour).

Good luck!!!

Weird that Coco-Pliskova match is not night session. Feels much bigger.
